Wow, I came on here to read the reviews and decide if I wanted to leave one. Since it appears my bad experience was not unique, I thought I should add mine in the hopes that the owners might address this potentially serious issue. My wife and I live in Tarpon and go out downtown several times a week, and we were excited to check out the latest offering. As soon as we entered we were approached by an employee who stated that this was a āhigh endā establishment and we couldnāt come in. I literally stared at him and smiled for about ten seconds waiting for the punchline. Apparently he viewed my incredulous response as aggressive, so he offered to have either the owner or manager (canāt remember which) come and kick us out. I declined his offer and told him there was no need to bother anyone else and that his attitude was reason enough for us to leave. I shouldnāt have to add the following, but since their staff used the term āhigh endā as the reason for kicking us out, here goes: my wife and I are both professionals and business owners, we were not drunk/rude/loud in any way, I was wearing a white linen button-down shirt with khaki shorts and Topsiders, and my wife was wearing a nice dress and sandals, and our income puts us in the top 1-2% in the US. It seems tacky to have to mention these things in a review, but Iām not sure how much more āhigh endā we need to be to enter a mid-range cocktail bar in small town Florida. After relating this incident to a few of our friends, theyāve posited that perhaps my wifeās skin tone (she is not white) may have been a factor? I really hope this isnāt the case, but Iām not naĆÆve enough to exclude racism as a potential motivation in 21st century America. Regardless of their motives, Iād appreciate a better explanation than āhigh endā, so perhaps the owners...
