We visited Baked in Telluride on July 1st, 2025 around 6 PM for dinner on our last night in town. The place had a huge variety of baked goods and an extensive menu with lots of options to choose from. There was even a grab-and-go section with pizza by the slice and pre-made salads—super convenient for people on the move.
Unfortunately, our ordering experience was less than ideal. Maria helped us at the counter, and to be honest, she seemed rushed and impatient from the start. It was our first time there, and instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like we were an inconvenience. At one point, she sighed and tapped her fingers while our daughters were quickly deciding between pizza and pasta—it was uncomfortable. We even forgot to order a couple of things because we felt so hurried. When we tried to add one more item, her reaction was noticeably annoyed. A little patience and a smile would’ve gone a long way.
As for the food, it was a bit of a mixed bag: • My husband had the pasta marinara with meatballs—he thought it was just okay and wouldn’t order it again. • My mother-in-law pre-ordered her pizza and enjoyed it. • My father-in-law got the avocado taco and the beef fajita taco and liked them both, though he raised an eyebrow at the $5 per taco price. Personally, I thought it was fair (plus we were paying, so 🤷♀️). • My younger daughters ordered plain pasta with just parmesan (picky eaters!) and they enjoyed it. • My oldest daughter went with the garlic parmesan bread as her main meal and loved it. I tried it too—it was super flavorful, though a bit heavy on the garlic. • I ordered the double black angus chili, which sounded amazing. It was hearty and loaded with ingredients—black beans, tomatoes, celery, green peppers, onions, and beef—but it lacked the bold spices I expect in chili (especially being from Texas). It tasted more like a tomato-based stew than a true chili. Still decent, just not what I was hoping for.
The dining experience itself was just okay. There were flies buzzing around, which was frustrating and distracting while eating. Oddly, this was the only restaurant in Telluride during our week-long trip where we ran into that issue.
The bathrooms could definitely use more attention. They were out of toilet paper and we had to use rough paper towels instead. The floors were also pretty dirty—maybe from an earlier rush, but still not ideal.
In short, Baked in Telluride has a lot of potential with its big menu and bakery selection, but the service and cleanliness really need improvement. Unfortunately, we probably won’t return on future visits.
I was only able to take a picture of my chili since I had to fight off flies, but the garlic parmesan bread...
Read moreWe were traveling to Denver and decided to stop in Telluride for a late lunch. After eating and walking around for an hour we were about to hit the road again, but I wanted a coffee to help me be wide awake while driving in the mountains.
When we entered Baked in Telluride and walked up to the counter, a lady walked up to the register and just stood there looking around, never once acknowledging we existed. No "Welcome", no "Hi how are you?", not even a "Can I help you?" She just stood there in silence looking around an empty restaurant and not making eye contact with us...who were standing 3 ft away at the counter to order.
There was no mention of coffee on their digital menu above the counter, but I could see an espresso machine and some syrups behind her, so I finally said "Hi, what coffees do you offer?". Without even responding back to us, she turned and walked away to another woman who was crouched down behind another counter to ask her what coffees they had. The second woman also did not welcome us and just walked over almost irritated and said "Our list of coffees will eventually be here" and pointed at a section of their digital menu that had an advertisement on it. Since that didn't answer my question at all or help us in the slightest, I had to ask yet again, "Do you make coffee now?" When we finally were able to order a simple vanilla latte on ice, It was incredibly weak coffee and really a terrible drink to the point I threw 1/2 of it away. Unfortunately, we paid $20 for two bad coffees and bad service. Their restroom was also filthy with urine all over the floor and the toilet seat.
If you are looking for a coffee or baked goods in Telluride, I would highly suggest you walk three more blocks down the main boulevard to "The butcher...
Read moreBaked in Telluride. The name for this place is very fitting! Upon entering this establishment, you are quickly engulfed with the smells of baked goodies! Quickly distracted by the two young men behind the counter doing the “Griddy” dance with each other, I should have turned around and walked out. I figure they were just having some fun during their shift. My wife and I proceeded to order only to have to repeat ourselves numerous times as the young man taking our order kept conversing with his co-worker and continuously asking “whuuut?”. After taking our order, we observed a slew of folks coming, receiving their orders, and leaving. After 20 minutes, my wife inquired as to how much longer it would be for our 3 sandwiches. The young man that took our order giggles and says he forgot to print the ticket for our order. Without an apology, he proceeds to make the wrong 3 sandwiches, sloppily wrapped them in paper and tossed them in a bag. He proceeds to hand over the bag with a grin and says “sorry about that.” We didn’t realize the sandwiches were wrong until we arrived at our hotel. The best part, they were talking trash about customers in spanish. Being spanish speakers, we understood everything. Unprofessional, rude, and useless performance. Avoid this overpriced place and instead get sandwiches next door at The Market! Much better quality, prices, and professional service. Baked in Telluride is exactly...
