I went on a date at this restaurant and it was my dates first time being there during the lunch hour. So we both experienced a new menu for the first time. For appetizers we ordered the octopus puppies and Korean Fried chicken. We were chatting and chatting laughing getting to know one another and the waitress didn't seem bothered by us not having our orders ready for 10 minutes. She was quite understanding and once we got down our orders she put them in very quickly.
It was a cloudy day out so we decided to move from the outside seating inside I could feel when the rain started to drizzle a bit. we moved inside and it was quite loud in there I can tell it was an environment where there's a lot going on. There was still an outside breeze as the restaurant itself is kind of shaped like a barn so the side doors are open and the front doors are open where you just walk in. My allergies started to kick in but I didn't let that ruin my great experience. Keep in mind this place has a lot of outdoor air coming in so if it's cold out bring a jacket and take some allergy medicine if necessary. That's just something I wish I had known before I came.
The industrial style of the restaurant is quite nice until somebody drops a metal fork onto the ground and the cement makes this loud clang noise. Even in the bathrooms I saw women, again and again swing open the bathroom stall door in a rush and cringe as it bangs and the noise echoes in the bathroom. I watched his workers and other guests dining in went to wash their hands but realized faucet handle for the sink has to be pushed down in order to wash your hands, none of us were a fan of that. I definitely recommend whoever owns this joint to get a new sink system something that preferably matches the industrial decor look.
I had a good view in the house to see the bartenders do their thang. One bartender in particular had lit a thin laced metal fabric and watched it become a flame then he captured the smoke in a cup and quickly added it to 3 mixed drinks shaken with ice. What a sight to see!
My server was Kylie and she anticipated her needs made some funny jokes and I really liked her energy. She made me feel welcome there.
I ordered the Sammy chicken sandwich with a side of fries and my date ordered the 1909 burger with a side of fries. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they did not have house ketchup and my experience house ketchup is not the business.
I really enjoyed the sandwich I ate it for leftovers as well as the burger and as a person who isn't the biggest fan of meat...I really loved the chicken, it was super juicy. It tasted like it was farm fresh and quite tender.
Good atmosphere ambiance great place for dates and brunches. I can't wait to come back and try the vegetarian options as they didn't have many on...
Read moreNormally, my time here is great. Tonight...nope. It started good, the hostess sat me down immediately and was super awesome. At the table, the waiter (who never said his name) arrived quickly and set me up with waters for all. When the rest of my party showed, the waiter showed up again and got us drinks. Nothing bad so far, we all got drinks and followed up with a food order. No surprises and food was great. During the meal, I noticed biz picked up and my waiter seemed less attentive to us. Kind of sucked because I finished my drink and waited a while for the waiter to come by but nothing. Quick restroom break with hopes of missing the waiter while gone and my party ordering for me. Yet, sat at the table again while my party finished their meals/drinks. Waited again for a while and got impatient. So, once our waiter came down our way, I verbally and visually caught his attention and asked for another drink. Everything else going fine and my party none the wiser. At least 10 minutes passed, everyone finished, and was ready to leave for a walk around Old Town. So I had to catch the waiters attention again and just tell him to forget about the drink and bring the check. He seemed to remember when I told him that and asked if I was sure about my decision. I kindly told him it's been a while and we were ready to leave already. Less than 3 minutes later, he showed up with my drink, the check, and explained something about it had only been 12 minutes since I ordered and something about the manager saying that's normal when it's busy. I told him that I don't want it and if you charge me for it then fine. I just wanted to pay and get out of there. I didn't drink it, paid the check, and left. I truly believe the waiter got busy and forgot about the drink (Side note: my wife ordered a drink during the meal and the waiter got it wrong.....so he wasn't 100% on point). If he had just apologized and said he forgot about it or just a "I'm sorry about that." I really would of been ok with that. However, he didn't, and some imaginary manager stuck their imaginary nose in our business and in reality ruined the experience for me. 12 minutes is bs for a drink. I know this because it didn't take that long when the rest of my party ordered subsequent drinks while dining. Or when I went to Luke's afterwards. At Luke's there were 18 people at the bar when i showed up with one bartender working. I had a drink in my hand in less than 10 minutes. Unfortunately, i cant give the service 2.5 stars tonight. Maybe they'll get it...
Read moreI was on vacation so this visit was on Aug 19th, just now found time to review it. First off this was my first time in Temecula and I absolutely loved the atmosphere of the entire town. Everywhere was packed so there was about a 20 minute wait time for a table. Once seated my sister and I ordered the same drink, I don't remember the name it was STRONG and delicious, but strong, whoever was pouring that night was definitely heavy handed. I really enjoyed the spices on the lip of the glass with the flavor of the drink. My sister didn't like the rim spices and wasn't nearly as impressed as I was about the flavor.
For appetizers we ordered the deep fried cauliflower, deep fried deviled eggs and the gnocchi. The cauliflower was boring, nothing to write home about. The deviled eggs were delicious, but the portion size was very disappointing. The gnocchi was the best of the 3, definitely recommend.
For entrees we got a soup and salad combo, a burger and the chicken breast. The salad with goat cheese was very good, absolutely love goat cheese. The soup was quickly devoured, I don't remember which one it was. The burger was on point and the fries were yummy. The chicken breast was very moist and tender. Over all food was wonderful, drinks were delicious, definitely recommend!
And the reason for the 4 stars was the atmosphere at this spot. We were seated in the same area as a very large wedding party. The party was loud, but not overly so until they all started to get up to leave, then they were so loud we couldn't talk to each other unless we were yelling, which we didn't, BUT the people behind us DID. They were practically screaming at each other to be heard over the now obnoxiously loud wedding party and they started to just stand and linger in the isle next to other peoples tables without a care in the world with how disruptive they were being. I realize how patrons are acting is not the restaurants fault, but it unfortunately did negatively impact our time there. Once that group left it got much quieter, except the people behind us who didn't get the memo.. and continued to be loud. Once we left the restaurant we could still hear them from across the street. I'm just shocked at how rude the guests...
