Literally smack dab in the middle of ASU. Take that info with what you will. We walked in around 2:15 on a Saturday once the spring semester ended, so it could've been much worse. They had the registers where you'd order closed and literally had one bartender manning the bar and taking every single order. I felt so bad for her because she was running back and forth and here we are standing there waiting for her to acknowledge us and get in our orders. Thankfully, it wasn't too busy, but still. We did have to wait a bit to order.
My friend ordered two crispy fish tacos and a side of chips and queso. The "side" of chips and queso could've been an entire meal they gave you so many chips. My friend said to make sure I emphasize how delicious the queso was in this review lol. She enjoyed her fish tacos; her only complaint was that she wished there was a little more fish.
I ordered the chicken fajita taco and the black bean taco. Both on flour tortillas. The black bean taco was super liquidy that I tilted it sideways and the liquid from the beans created a lake in the boxes the tacos come in. I didn't let that deter me though, as it was still super flavorful. I was grateful that it came with two tortillas because otherwise a single tortilla would've been soaked before it came out. I preferred the chicken fajita more. The chicken was tasty and not dry at all. My only gripe was that the pepper slices were bigger than I'd liked. But it's okay, it was a fajita taco afterall.
If you're a college student or looking to try some tacos with college students, check this place out. Nothing blew me away, hence why I'm...
Read moreOk so my review is specific to THIS location. I’m a Mexican-American born and raised in Texas, that also has an appreciation for Tex-Mex food AND has been to several Rusty’s locations in the DFW area all of which I like.
DO NOT get a margarita….it was watery as hell. We asked the bartender about the Bandido margarita (meant to be stronger) and he said that even though it’s on the menu it has never been an actual thing…smh.
We ordered our tacos, two of which were pork. The pork was hella smokey in flavor like BBQ pork, and not the authentic pork seasoning in an al pastor taco. Also one of them had a hair in it. The cauliflower one and the picadillo one were on the bland side.
What was good: as soon as we pointed out the hair, quietly and nicely, they zoomed a hairless one out. Corn tortillas are good, not store bought. The trio dip appetizer queso, guac, and salsa with chips was great! Beer on tap was...
Read moreThe food here used to be great, but it has slipped substantially. The tacos were good enough but nothing special. More than that, the place was filthy at 11:30am, like it had never been cleaned from the night before. Trash wouldn't even fit in either of the two containers, drink lids were scattered everywhere, the tea dispenser seemed clogged and would barely let any water out, the tables were dirty and I had to clean mine with some root beer I spilled on it just to make the experience somewhat OK. We waited at the counter and then an employee came up and put a big sign on it saying to order at the bar without even saying a word to us. The woman behind us in line just left, probably the wiser decision .I won't be giving this chain another chance -- just too...
