I love the setup to this place. It reminds me of NJ and NY pizzerias. You walk in and They have a bunch of different pizza pies on the display and they sell slices. They also have chicken parm sandwiches and garlic knots. Score! Most places in Texas look at me like I have two heads if I ask!
For Temple, I'm sure this would be 5 stars if I lived there. For a pizza joint expert like myself who's had amazing Italian food in the Mecca of Italian food (The east coast of course), i'd have to give this place 4 stars for lack of flavor. The chicken parm sandwich had a good amount of sauce and cheese (not dry and that's key) , the bread was good and perfectly toasted but something was off. Not sure if it was the cheese, sauce or the seasoning but I'd give the chicken parm a 4.8 out of 10 by my standards. I haven't had many chicken parm sandwiches in Texas since it's hard to find but I've made better chicken parm at home. I think this place uses cheap ingredients. I mean it's decent and I would go back when I'm in Temple but it's not like "OMG! I have to go back to that pizza spot in Temple ".
The garlic knots were decent but could've used a little more oil or whatever they put on it to make it moist. It's not like youre aiming for healthy if you're at a pizzeria anyway. The marinara sauce they gave me with my garlic knots was not good. This place could be ten times better if they used better ingredients.
My ratings: 5 stars for Temple. 4 stars for Texas 3 stars if this place was in NJ or NYC.
Pricing: The prices were great which might explain the cheaper ingredients. Maybe I've gotten used to the ridiculous prices in Austin but this place has very...
Read moreGood food; racist family that own it (with some working there). I've ordered there at least 5 or 6 times. The family members are at least racist toward African Americans (AA). If they detect you are AA when you call in an order, they'll intentionally not prepare it until you get there and pay. I've also witness the difference the family members employed/working there treat AAs as opposed to Causations even at the checkout counter. This may be acceptable in this community but not by me.
The review above was from two months ago. I took a chance and walk in today (craving the food), and it was a pleasant surprise to not see the caucasian personnel no longer there today. The gentleman that took my order was very professional and even made suggestions on the menu that saved me money. The family was there today, and all of them were Italian and very professional. So it was my mistake assuming the back-woods sounding personnel were the own. The rude ones from a couple months ago were young, maybe on a Summer job program. Either way, the atmosphere was positive and the food, as always, was great! Can't wait to...
Read moreSo I put it in the order an hour before pickup and something happened in my order didn't get done I don't know all the details but I do know that I made a phone call up there and the lady tells me I'm only human and I made a mistake well I'm a human I didn't make a mistake but I called up there to try to figure out what happened the lady was so rude to me over the phone so based on that I just assumed not to go there anymore I'm a very loyal person I just wanted somebody to say something respectful not I'm human that's a not an excuse I I'm a human and I make mistakes too but I'll take responsibility and correct the mistakes if I have to do it I expect them to do it. The lady that I talked to you on the phone also was making it like I made the mistake I did not make the mistake I ordered the same thing every time I called up there if they have me on record they should know that I'll order the same thing every single time it's not my mistake but I guess my mistake is expecting them to do the right thing I don't know what the right thing is but that's...
