McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Texarkana

The food used to be really good in priced and service, over the years that changed. My family used to take up at least 11 seat every Sunday, and would come in regularly throughout the week. That changed after a bald-headed manager was hired he has run it in the ground, I have watched him tell customers to stand at a table while another was eating and say you get their table when they get up, both sets of customers were confused, and embarrassed. We adapted with every menu change dropping are favorite order and price change. The final straw was when my little boy went to the restroom, since the men's restroom only has 1 bathroom stall in the urinal with no doors that is awkwardly located right next to the sink, you can see the person peeing as you wash your hands. On this occasion someone was already in the stall, my son went to go use the urinal and there was another person that came in after him, so including me there were four males in the bathroom. That is when the same bald-headed manager from the earlier story entered with a teenage girl employee, he was clearly training her on what needs to be cleaned, however it was completely apparent that everyone in the bathroom including her was felt extremely uncomfortable, and even though he could see that the bathroom with standing room only of men he still sent a teenage girl in there to clean off the restroom, while he walked out. We’ve eaten at McAlister’s in Shreveport, Memphis several locations in those & other cities. I always got a pickle spear with a sandwich. In Texarkana which is an hour from my house ASKS you if you want the pickle on your takeout order. Yes! I want my pickle! For a $15 sandwich I want the pickle. Both times they asked & Both Times NO PICKLE! The Food Is Great! My wife lOves the Chicken Salad on a Croissant. Fresh veggies decent meats. This store took very little care to evenly arrange the meats on the Memphian which has Turkey Ham Roast Beef cheese and veggies. It’s a Lot of good meats! That’s why I get the WHOLE Sandwich. It’s Excellent! Piled on one side or the other and not evenly kinda screws up the thing. Meat & veggies weren’t arranged properly At All. It takes less than a minute to just do it right and not just slap it together with an OBVIOUS Disregard for How anyone wants a high end sandwich. Lack of Training or supervision? Quality control? I like McAlister’s! Should at least be as good as other cities. The Vegan Chili had what appeared to be Grease stuck to the cup! It was Terrible! I’ve eaten it several times but here it was bad. We had heard about Mcalister's and was told it was a good place to eat. So we decided to try it today. The place was clean and had a good atmosphere. My husband ordered a Italian sandwich. I ordered a Ceasar salad. My husband was almost finished and I hadn't received my salad. The manager apologized and refunded our lunch. The waitresses never apologize. This was bad enough but we did not get the money from the tip. This was added without our knowledge. A tip is from the customer to the the person giving us service. We as the customer decide if we want to leave a tip. And how much. But worse than that they use a pooling system, which we saw on our receipt. So bad service is rewarded. Bad attitudes are rewarded! We don't like to go just on first impressions but because of this we will not return. I have been a waitress and the best way to bring down the service is to reward bad service. And the customer has the right to tip or not tip. A business should NEVER automatically...
