I have celiac disease which means that I need to eat gluten-free. Please understand that this review comes mostly from that perspective. I have little idea about their food. We were directed to TaMolly's because they offer a supposedly "gluten-free" menu and have received "GREAT Kitchens" training.
The hostess was a little rude and seemed put out when we asked for two regular menus (there were two of us) to go with the gluten-free menu (those of you who are gluten intolerant will understand that the GF menu almost always lacks detail; as theirs most definitely did).
The GF menu proclaims "Bottomless Gluten Free Chips and Salsa!" When our chips and salsa came we asked if they were gluten-free. The server assured us twice that they were. Reading the GF menu, we saw that some of their supposedly GF items were fried in oil that may have been used to fry foods that do contain gluten. Any food fried in such oil is no longer gluten-free. We learned from the manager that even their chips are fried in common fryers with gluten-containing foods.
There is no indication on the menu which GF items are fried and therefore likely contaminated.
The fryer issue is pretty basic for those with even the slightest knowledge of gluten-free cooking.
I have absolutely no confidence that any of their food is genuinely gluten-free. And at this point "GREAT Kitchens trained" lacks all credibility as well.
Don't eat here if you have celiac disease unless you want to shorten your...
Read moreMaria, our server, was amazing to certain customers, but not to my fiancé and me. It seemed we weren't the type of customers she wanted to serve.
We were seated, and my fiancé had to excuse himself for a moment, so I waited. After about 4 to 5 minutes, another party was seated behind us. Before they even settled in, Maria greeted them and took their drink order. When she finally came to my table, she rushed me to place my drink order and started to walk away. I had to call her back to finish my order because I wasn't done.
After taking my order, she went back to the other table to serve their drinks and appetizers. By that time, my fiancé had returned to the table. When Maria came back to us, she rushed through taking our order as well. Keep in mind it was only 11 AM, and there were maybe five other people in the restaurant at that time.
When she returned, she brought the food for the party behind us before ours. At first, I thought it might have been a simple mistake, but it became clear that this was a consistent oversight. Some may think a few minutes' difference isn't significant, but if you're in a restaurant and are seated first, only to be overlooked while another party is served first, it makes you feel unimportant.
At that point, we should have just left, but I was holding out hope that things would improve. Unfortunately,...
Read moreI'm sorry . I really debated on not doing a review because I know it's hard to run a restaurant but this was bad. First they switched waiters on us after ours seemed to have forgotten about us. But that wasn't really a concern because we weren't in a hurry. It was also quite and ordeal to get the bill straightened out when they overcharged us. But neither of those reasons are the big reason for the 1-star. The problem was the food. We ordered nachos as a safe bet.... and what we got was the attached photo. I don't know what it was but it's not fooling me. The "nachos" were merely a fried tortilla that was so greasy it could have been categorized as hazardous material...with a smidge of refried beans and the most orange cheddar cheese I've ever seen. I know that's a TexMex atrocity so not points deducted for the cheese but I'm still dumbfounded about the nacho situation. $10+ for this concoction?! To their credit they did refund the couple dollars they overcharged because I did not order or want the guac or sour cream. But the real kicker was that the waitress confirmed that tamales are the only thing they don't make but rather they purchase. Wild. Because the restaurant is (kinda) named after the dish. I feel bad but I just cannot recommend and I would absolutely...
