Charlie D's Pizza — Restaurant in Texas

After placing an order of Cheesey Garlic Bread and a Build your own Medium Pizza we sat and sipped our sodas. After waiting 20 minutes a family of 4 comes in and places their order, 2 pizzas and an order of Cheesey Garlic Bread. After another 15 minutes, the young cook brings the bread from the back and serves the family of 4. As he walked past, we questioned when our bread would be ready and he said he would check on it, and never came back. After another 10 minutes I walked up and questioned about our Cheesey Garlic Bread. It's coming out right now. After 10 more minutes he brings us our bread. Now it's been over an hour and he walks by holding a Medium Brooklyn Pizza, but it wasn't ours. When I look at the receipt, he has charged us for a pizza we didn't order or like. When I asked about it the person (who obviously delivers the pizza regularly) tells me "when he gets done in the back he can address the refund issue." I returned to my seat to continue waiting. All the while another man who stopped in asked how much longer over 3 times and was told lwt me check and no one returned to tell him specifically. After 45 minutes, he asked for. Refund for his order because hisbsub took too long and he had to return to work. Right before he got refubsed another lady was waiting when we arrived kept asking for her order to go (2 pizzas, 2 desserts, and garlic bread). She asked and repeated her self so many times to the same employee I know her order. She was very calm and pleasant until she started to ask and stated at what time she placed her order and how long she was waiting there, when the worker tells her "that's fine, let me check". She retorts "it's not fine" and he walked to the back while she was still talking to him. After 5 minutes the other person. Brings her to pizzas out and then she asks about the rest of her order, he said he is working on it and returns to the back. After another 8 to 10 minute wait she repeats when she placed the order that is she is still waiting on the rest of her order and that she placed the order before 12 since the party she was having started at 1 and she wasnt wven going to be there to let people in since she was still waiting. Well needless to say, the pizza we ordered was very delisicious, ( we built our own with Bell Peppers, Pinapple, Bacon, and onions on 1/2) despite the Ridiculously unnecessary wait time. Would recommend the place, but I'm gonna have to see who's working first. Having 2 employee's, one simply running register, answer phone calls and then just standing there while the other employee ran around cooking, and running the food was not an...

The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the pizza, despite being cold while I ate it because it had been sitting outside for God knows how long, actually tasted really good.

Apart from that, everything else - from the “delivery” if you can call leaving a pizza on the my doorstep without knocking, ringing the doorbell, or calling me to let me know it was here - all the way to them trying to “clean it up” with me has been an absolute joke.

Firstly, no parm/peppers — who does that? But that’s besides the point.

The first phone call I made about the order being left on my doorstep with no notification was the night it happened. The night manager, John, promised to clean it up - to make me a pizza and deliver it to me himself in order to keep me as a customer the next time I ordered.

However, when I called back about a week later - John wasn’t in. Instead I got Charlie (I’m assuming the owner), whom I had a less than exemplary experience with. At first when he answered the phone and I told him what happened, he mentioned that he’d heard about my situation and needed to speak with the driver about it. He then asked if he could place me on hold.

After 10 minutes on hold, the call dropped. When I called back, I was told by another employee that Charlie was on the phone with the driver and that he would call me back. He did approximately 5 minutes later.

However, instead of sympathizing with my complaint and asking what he could do to make it right, he simply went on to explain how he personally knew this particular driver, and that this person would never do such a thing as just leave a pizza on a doorstep without knocking or calling.

Then, at the end of it all, when I explained that all I was doing was calling in to try and give Charlie D’s Pizza a second shot, with attitude he said “So what can I do for you” like I was just making his day THAT much more difficult. At that, I bid him a good day and hung up the phone.

Update: My husband and I decided to go and pick up our order a month or so ago, even though they are not open for dine in you can still pick up your food and or deliver it to your house. We saw the owner and he remembered us as soon as we walked in and he did apologized for our last visit. The food is great am not going to lie even though we had that previous issue we would still pick up our order or get it delivered, but we would not dine in. Now that we were able to speak to the owner and I honestly was surprised he remembered us and even apologized to us, I know he cares about his customers. Once all of this pandemic is over we will definitely go back and even dine in since we love this place!

Never coming here ever again!! Bad customer service. We have never had an issue with them not even the waiting time for the food. Ever since they changed employees it went downhill. The girl in the front is so rude we waited for 30 minutes for the pizza when we asked how long she said let me go check came back with the pasta but no pizza. She tried to argue that it only has been 24 minutes!!! When we had the receipt and it obviously had the time when we tried to show her the receipt she ignored us and went to the kitchen stating “they are trying to argue” no we aren’t trying to argue we just want to know why it was taking for ever with our food specially when we were the ONLY ones at the restaurant!!!
