I wanted SO BADLY to enjoy this hidden Aztec themed oasis however the excitement quickly fizzled after the initial Ohhh & Ahhh from the beautiful decor. Let’s first back up to the parking situation… plan on arriving very early because it’s a whole journey to even reach the front door. Parking is near impossible on the weekend and it took a minute to figure out the restaurant was located BELOW the restaurants on the ground level. This little detail is not mentioned anywhere on their social media, website or reservation details. So once you do find the way to their gorgeous green then be prepared for an underwhelming food/drink experience. Between the four of us - three ordered the El-21 margaritas & I had ordered the La Fama. The La Fama came with a little snazzy fire show with the garnish which was cute for social media. It did taste very fresh and delicious, nothing too crazy however I will say that those El-21 margaritas were an absolute disaster… that margarita must be named for the 21 year olds that they fool into thinking that this is a good margarita. The actual drink to glass & ice ratio definitely cannot be overlooked but the actual strength of the drink was inexcusable especially considering the price! I ordered the Pulpo Tatemado because I was very much looking forward to the roasted octopus and surprisingly this was the only dish that I throughly enjoyed… the octopus was very smoky, the flavor was fully enjoyable, the little vegetables and potatoes that accompany it definitely round out this dish to be the winner of the evening. From here on out I’ll just quick fire each dish… • Queso Fundido was bubbly and cheesy and perfect for a photo op in the picturesque large bowl but the cheese was just too greasy and drippy for my liking • Picanha a la Parilla looked just like the photos online & apparently was a nice meal • Quesadilla Del Mercado has simple enough, nothing too crazy write home about • Pollo a la Brasa was extremely dry, not much flavor at all. Definitely came out way too quick and seemed like a dish that was prepared well in advance and just reheated prior to ordering. A huge let down. • Chicharron street tacos were very very dry. The salsa that came with them was lacking in any type of spice and the squeezed lime juice was more flavorful than the actual meat. There was a nice lil crunch which added a nice lil texture to the overly dried and under flavored/seasoned meat. • Chocoholic’s plate was more pronounced than the actual dessert. One incredibly tiny cookie scoop size of ice cream and three measly crumbs (I’ve literally had croutons larger than what was served on that plate) of chocolate sponge cake dashed on the side and far too sweet white chocolate. Even our post dinner conversation left me parched because the waiter and waitresses literally stopped serving our entire table. I understand that the weekend is a busy time for restaurants however last I checked this was not a fast casual restaurant and with zero water refills throughout the meal I was sipping the watered down left over margarita juice just to quench my thirst. I cannot justify the amount that this outing cost with the quality of food that was served, this is what happens when you have restaurants that focus more on atmospheric experience and not the food that is being served on the plate. This restaurant has only been open for less than two months but without a major food overhaul I do not see this withstanding the...
Read moreTerrible Experience at JOKO: Disrespect and Total Disorganization
Our experience at JOKO was absolutely unacceptable, especially during the holiday season, when finding another place to dine is nearly impossible. We had a confirmed reservation for 7:45 PM and even called in advance to adjust the number of people. Despite this, we were seated at a table we didn’t request, and when we asked for a solution, the hostess promised to move us to another table within 30 minutes. That never happened. From the start, it was clear there was no professionalism or interest in properly accommodating us.
By 8:40 PM, nearly an hour after our reservation time, we were still without a table. Speaking with the manager was equally useless. He assured us we would be seated at a table that was about to become available, but instead, the hostess chose to seat other people. Her excuse was that the tables becoming available were “for larger groups,” yet a table for 10 was given to a group of 6—exactly the same number as our group. This was nothing short of disrespectful and ridiculous.
The most outrageous part happened at the end. After nearly two hours of waiting, we decided to leave. Only then, when the manager saw us leaving, did he attempt to intervene, saying they would resolve the situation if we waited “a little longer.” How could we trust such a ridiculous promise after everything we had experienced? It was far too late by then.
JOKO completely ruined a gathering that was meant to celebrate the holiday season and enjoy a good time together. Instead of a joyful evening, we were left feeling frustrated and humiliated. The staff never apologized or showed any empathy. To add insult to injury, the hostess sent us off with a condescending smile, as if our concerns didn’t matter.
JOKO is disorganized, lacks basic customer service, and has no respect for its guests. If you value your time, money, and dignity, avoid this place at all costs. I cannot recommend this restaurant under any...
Read moreI’ve been eagerly awaiting the chance to dine here for over a month, and I’m thrilled to say that the experience did not disappoint. From the moment I walked in, I was utterly captivated by the restaurant’s stunning design. The ambiance is nothing short of breathtaking. Whether you’re in the main dining area, lounging at the chic bar, enjoying the vibrant club space, or even stepping into the immaculate bathrooms, every corner of this place exudes luxury and style.
We were seated quickly, and our server introduced himself with a warm welcome. Over the course of the evening, I sampled three different cocktails, each expertly crafted and perfectly balanced. For appetizers, we shared a mouthwatering array: empanadas, arepas, and guacamole. The flavors were as exceptional as the presentation—everything was beautifully plated and tasted just as good as it looked.
For the main course, I opted for the wagyu steak, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Tender, perfectly cooked, and full of rich flavor—it truly lived up to the hype. We ended the evening with an array of desserts: churros, flan, and chocolate mousse, each one presented in its own unique way. The flan was my personal favorite, but honestly, all of them were delightful.
What truly set this experience apart was the impeccable service. From the moment we arrived until the very end, the attention to detail was outstanding. My server, along with the manager, checked in on us regularly, ensuring that every need was met with care and efficiency. It’s clear that this restaurant takes pride in delivering top-tier service, and it shows in every interaction.
By the end of the night, I was a little sad to leave. My entire party had an incredible time, and every aspect of our meal was flawlessly executed. This restaurant deserves every bit of its five-star reputation. I will...
