Subway — Restaurant in The Dalles

Normally this is my go to Subway between Portland/Surrounding areas and The Dalles. Im not sure what happened tonight, but it was a complete 180. We were there about 8 o clock to grab dinner before we headed home. We were there for at least 7 minutes and not one of the three employees working looked our way nor acknowledged us. There were two customers before us being helped, we waited patiently. In the mean time I went to the bathroom while my husband waited. When I came back another person had walked in and grabbed an online order, the other two customers were checked out and we were still standing there. The three employees still didn't even look our way or say they would be with us as soon as someone was available. Normally everytime we've come to this location everyone working is super friendly, says hello and someone will be with us shortly and were happy to wait.

SUPER DISAPPOINTED tonight. Im hoping everyone was just having an off day and this is a one time incident. 😕. We will go back another day and try again. We actually ended up going to Fred Meyers to buy our own groceries to make subs because tonight was so off putting.

I dont feel like I should have to beg for service when I walked into somewhere. Especially if we still aren't being acknowledged and we are the only people in the establishment. 🫠.

Whoever was working tonight 6/17/2025 around 8pm, it really matters to acknowledge people when they walk in. Just making eye contact and telling us that someone would be with us when they had a moment and I would have happily waited 15 minutes. I also understand that online orders usually come first.

We were visiting a swap meet in this area and opted to place an online order with this store. We were two minutes from the location. By the time the order was placed, we were parked in front of the store. To our surprise, the order would take 25 minutes. As we sat there, 6 to 7 customers came and went from the store. At the 25 mark we went in and went to the register as the app instructed. A woman told us, when we're done with them, we put them over there and pointed at a shelf by the window. We got our drinks, picked our chips and headed outside to eat. Both of our sandwiches were toasted in the order. Neither one was even warm by the time we got them. As a suggestion, it would be wonderful if the sandwich maker could indicate the order was ready. It was probably finished prior to all those customers. 🤷🏼‍♀️. The store appeared clean. We stopped by this Subway for lunch while passing through from Rockaway Beach to Yakima. It was around 100 degrees outside and when we stepped inside this store, it was pretty warm and toasty, to say the very least! There was a line all the way to the door but we were starving and decided to wait it out. There were 5 employees working their tails off and hustling to get orders completed. When we got up to the counter to pay, one of the employees said it was 91 degrees INSIDE. 91! Inside!! This crew.....all rock stars!!!
