Chevy's Place — Restaurant in Toledo

Do not go to this place if you are a minority. I was with my white friends and had no idea what I was getting myself into.

I went to the upstairs portion of the bar so I had to run into a bouncer who was different from the one at the front door. He took my friends IDs and allowed them upstairs with no hesitation. People had on t shirts on, sneakers, etc. Mind you, I was MATCHING the white girls I went to meet up with (who were let upstairs before me): it was St Patrick’s day and we all had on denim shorts, green shirts, sneakers, colorful clover stickers on our faces, etc. unfortunately I was the only black one and I just happened to be wearing braids for the first time in my life (I have a head full of curly hair that they usually “allow” or “find cute.”)

He looks at me and says “I can’t let you in with those shoes on” I thought he was joking. So I said “I just handed you my military ID dude, really, this is how you’re gonna do me as a service member?“

I realized it wasn’t a joke the moment he said “do you have any other ones?”

Mind you, I’d been waiting in line for an hour. He knew I wouldn’t walk downtown to my car, get more shoes, and wait another hour.

I wish I saw the reviews before I went. I felt embarrassed and humiliated.

Oh, they also don’t have the dress code posted. It’s purposely vague so they can deny target customers.

From clothes to even “you smell,” are...

This place SUCKS! Me and my family entered the bar and within 20 secs of being there some random guy started a fight with me. And 20 seconds is not an exaggeration. Not much happened until I got out of the bar. I walked away with my brother and aunt down the street while the rest of the family was held by a cop. As we were walking away five bouncers followed me and jumped me… keep in mind there was absolutely no reason to do this as I was walking away. As a matter of fact I was two blocks down from the bar itself. The bouncers just wanted to take things into their own hands. They weren’t bouncing… they were just looking for a fight. They just wanted to beat a 21 year old up. I would not recommend coming here. I hope this bar gets shutdown ASAP. Also just read the comments… these people are racist and rude. All the good reviews must be some paid reviews to cover up the bad ones. I can’t believe those people actually enjoyed...

WARNING: I got roofied here by a younger looking white male with dark brown hair at the bar (he seemed like a regular here). When I walked outside, I was clearly incoherent and could not control my breath/unable to speak. That same guy at the bar attempted to get me to walk away with him, while the bouncer watched me helplessly try to get back in. The bouncer saw me in distress but watched the entire time like he knew. Small story short, I was able to run back into the bathroom where my boyfriend helped me to throw up. The same bouncer who saw me distressed outside kicked through and aggressively told him to get out despite him telling the bouncer that I might have been roofied and need help. Long story short, a girl who happened to be a nurse came in to help me and insisted I was roofied and help to escort me out safely. Highly wouldn’t recommend coming here, the bar has shady people...
