Let this be a warning to those thinking of dining at M Osteria Bar & Lounge. My experience at M Osteria Toledo was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Period. I will never go back. My family and I were treated in a rude, demeaning, and degrading way by an employee named Susie from the moment we arrived.
The website says “Walk-ins are welcome anytime”. So we walked in when the restaurant opened. Even though there was nobody else there, when said we did not have a reservation, it angered Susie.
She spoke to us in a demeaning and rude tone and made it very clear that she was annoyed with us even being present in the restaurant.
She marched us to a table, tried to rush us through our meal and even though we were all adults in our 20s through 40s, she kept referring to us as “kids” in a degrading way.
To think that I brought my friends and family to this restaurant, who drove hours to come and visit me from out of town, including my physically disabled Aunt who is a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy, I was absolutely mortified at the way Susie was treating us. It was, frankly, a bizarre experience and without question the least hospitable experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Sadly, the food quality failed to make up for Susie’s attitude and complete lack of hospitality. My friend’s appetizer was ice cold and my meal, the Cavatelli, was awful: bland, small portion, obviously microwaved, overpriced, and cold.
As someone who has previously worked as a server, I have the utmost respect for all the hardworking people in the service industry.
I have never in my entire life left a restaurant without leaving a tip. But this experience was different; I did not tip Susie. I simply could not bring myself to do it because of how she treated me, my friends, and my family. I even wrote on my receipt, “I hope you aren’t as rude to the next table.”
Avoid M Osteria Toledo at all costs. You have...
Read moreGot in one hour after the posted opening time, half hour after the subsequently posted time, and manager would not seat us outside; despite the fact, it would be a draw for people walking downtown for the mudhens game and the Toledo pride weekend.
Volunteered to get carry out and the manager freaked out at the concept. Still sat outside , and told people the food was delicious as a Downtown Toledo supporter, and despite that was eventually asked to leave by the manager because we complained about the treatment. Actually threatened to call the police, and we invited that.
Wouldn’t seat us outside, even though the restaurant was absolutely empty for the next 30 minutes. The first other customers came in at 5:19 PM.
Our waitress was wonderful. She remembered us from the last time we were in there, and we paid forward to buy dinner for a couple who was there with a small child. Wait staff is not the problem. The food is not the problem. It’s actually very good.
But not coming back. Except to order soft drinks. And attempt to get kicked out again by this guy, who had no explanation for asking us to leave, except that he was being an idiot.
He would not tell us his name, but this is...
Read moreI came to the bar with a group on Saturday night. The entire time we were there, there was a total of 20 people who came in and out. Reason for so little people patronizing the business? The employees (or owner, as I suspect) are rude. Online it says the bar closes at 2am. My group and I stayed until 1:45am. At this time, a male employee (either manager or owner) came over to us and verbatim said "I need you guys to leave." After being taken aback, a friend of our group goes to the restroom and the rest of us gather our belongings and start heading to the door to wait on her. At that point, the woman who was bar tending says "You guys need to go." We were not being loud and were definitely not the trashiest in the bar (cut off jean shorts girl with her tubby belly bouncing while "dancing"/convulsing on the dance floor who could barely even stand, was not even given a second glance). However, we were treated as a nuisance. When asked why they threw us out 15 minutes before the bar closed, they rolled their eyes, avoided eye contact, and continued their...
