Last night, our dinner club, typically a group of six, ventured out as a party of four to DeSeo, a modern Mexican restaurant located just off Secor Avenue in Toledo. It was our first time dining there, and overall, we were quite impressed. The drink menu was a hit with our group, though we found the $6.50 price tag for Coronas a bit steep. On the other hand, the handmade margaritas were exceptionalâdefinitely a highlight of the evening. Our friend also loved the virgin margarita, which was refreshing and full of flavor. We started with a trio of guacamole and a trio of salsa. The guacamole flavors were predetermined but delicious, though the $13 price seemed a bit high given the portion size. Similarly, the salsa trioâfeaturing roasted jalapeno, mango, and arbolâwas wonderfully flavorful, albeit with somewhat small portions. Thankfully, chip refills were provided, which helped balance it out. For the main course, Abigail ordered the cod tacos, which were a revelationâeven for someone who typically avoids fish. The fish was perfectly fried and paired with coleslaw and a delectable chipotle mayo. I opted for the quesabirrias, which were hands-down the best Iâve ever had. They came with a rich broth for dipping, along with salsas, chopped onion, and cilantro on the side. Each bite was an explosion of flavors. DeSeo offers a cozy, intimate setting, spread across two levels. The ambiance was perfect for a relaxed evening with friends. The small, vibrant space contributed to an enjoyable dining experience. When factoring in the atmosphere, service, and price, our overall experience averaged to an 8.0, and the food received high marks, averaging to a solid 9.0. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the food and drinks makes it worth the visit. We look forward to returning and exploring more...

NOTES: Little-known Toledo treasure. Most definitely recommend! Great for a first or second date venue, as a place to take visiting family members, girls/guys night out, or to take a business client to lunch. Price point a little more than a sit-down chain restaurant, however with the quality of the food being 10x better; it's most definitely worth it! IN DETAIL: Since moving back from the Southwest a year ago, I've been looking for a place in the Toledo area with great margaritas. Recently my friend had been telling me I need to check out Deseo, citing good food and margs. Finally, i made it there, expecting decent meals and drinks. Instead, I found amazing Mexican food with a modern twist (not too be confused with Tex-mex), and some of the best Margs I've ever had! Adding to the experience, the servers and management there are so awesome that, after only a few times there, they treated me like I was a long-time regular. As of writing this review, I've had four entrees, multiple appetizers, sides, and a couple of the desserts. There is not one negative comment I can say about any dish; they are all amazing! There are too many delicious opinions to name one. However, my friend and I agreed that the Quesabirria tacos we had today were some of the best either of us had ever had! I've had a couple of the seafood dishes there also and absolutely loved them! If you're getting dessert, the Leche cake is the...
Read moreThis place makes me so excited. If you know anything about Toledo, this place in my opinion, is the Kengo Sushi of Modern Mexican. The inside is smaller, but if you sit at the bar, you get a personalized approach to the experience. Our bartender was incredible and I wish I remembered his name, but every dish and drink we ordered, he explained to us in great detail. That guy could sell me on anything. Iâm going to be honest, I donât even remember the names of the dishes we had, I just have pictures, but everything was INCREDIBLE. And let me tell you about my drink experience⊠Cheap tequila can mess me up bad. If I go to a basic Mexican restaurant and order a margarita or two, I feel awful after. HOWEVER, I had two drinks at Deseo, and I felt amazing. I shouldâve been off my a** but I felt great and I didnât feel like a pufferfish. Deseo uses top shelf tequila for all of their margaritas, they make their own purĂ©es, syrups, etc. I used to work at a craft cocktail bar and the mixologist did the same thing and you could absolutely tell. Deseo has set itself apart from every other Mexican restaurant in Toledo in my opinion just for that. I cannot wait to bring my boyfriend next time so he can experience how great this place was and I think I might be even more excited to have the spicy pineapple margarita with the ice cube in it that when it melts itâs like a second spicy smoky...
