New Chang's Gourmet — Restaurant in Tomball

Very interesting experience with the person who answered the phone. I answered over speaker phone, so m 3 other colleagues were able to witness this odd conversation. The conversation started off fine enough with our main orders until we asked about egg rolls. We wanted to get an order of egg rolls that had multiple egg rolls in it, so we asked which egg roll order came with the most egg rolls. He paused for a moment, and in somewhat of a curt way, asked us which type of egg roll. That's where the fun began. So we asked what type of eggrolls they had, and he said vegetable and pork. By this point we felt the frustration in his voice, but figured it was misheard because the conversation was fine until that point. Then we asked which one had more, and he says "I can't tell you that UNLESS YOU PICK, VEGETABLE OR PORK." We were surprised, but told him, we were just trying to figure out which one had more. He still wouldn't tell us, so we picked vegetable, and he told us it came with 6. We were all confused, so we just ordered for pickup, and that was that.

My community told me this is the place for Chinese food in Tomball, was excited until the food wasn’t expected. Atmosphere was ok Service was good Food is another thing. I order the chicken chow main, come with egg roll, fried rice and choices of soup which is Hot & Sour soup. The only thing I like was the egg roll with fresh mustard and that’s great, few Chinese restaurant even offer that and they usually have the packages which is just plain. The chicken chow main was very blend to me and I had to add my soy sauces. The fried rice is ok due to taste maybe over MSG I feel. Don’t get me wrong MSG is ok but when use to much it’s over powers it and some people get. Symptoms with it. The Hot & Sour soup is ok not the best due to they have sugar in it which makes the Hot & Sour not real. Would I go back again maybe just for the egg roll but...

Was excited due to the raving reviews about this place. Ordered sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken.

Have never tasted sesame chicken like that in my life. It was just straight soy sauce. No flavor.

The fried chicken pieces in the sweet and sour chicken meal had no crunch, crust was mushy and bland. When I was about halfway through my sweet and sour chicken, I bit into one piece and this horrible, rancid flavor filled my mouth. It was so bad I had to spit out the chicken and I was gagging. I don’t know what it was, but it was not a flavor I have ever experienced. I immediately lost my appetite.

Ended up throwing all the food away.
