Jose Pepper's — Restaurant in Topeka

We had a confused waiter (Matt). First he forgot I ordered rasberry tea and joked it off, which did not sit well with me after coming off a long road trip. When I asked where is my ice tea, he stated, "it's over there" and laughed. In addition, he missed up our Tortilla soup order. Tortilla salad was brought to our table. Making the wait for our correct order even longer. He admitted to messing up the order by pressing the first button that said torrilla. He also admitted he didn't he didn't know tortilla salad was on the menu and just pressed the first thing that said "tortilla". To me this shows a lack of attention to detail and familiarity with the menu. When he delivered our plates to us one of the plates had food residue on it. When we asked him to replace the plate, he said, "oh it looks like it had chips spilled on it, I'll get another one". He really didn't need to make a comment like that , he just needed to replace the plate without question . The above incidents tells me he is not being attentive to the customers needs . I don't appreciate him not taking our orders seriously. I also know this waiter is not new because we have seen him wait on other customers on previous visits.

When our chips and salsa were delivered, the other waiter still placed the salsa bowl on the table even though the salsa sloshed forward and touched his hand. A manager did address this by replacing our salsa bowls personally.

Matt forgot the bill so I had to remind him. Matt is a jolly sort of guy, just not very attentive. After a long drive and busy weekend, we continue to love Jose Peppers, we will just decline to be served by Matt...

Wednesday, I took my grandchildren to one of our favorite places, Jose Peppers. We had a horrible experience from service, being licked by a dog, and being told they were too busy. I wrote a scathing review and received very professional reply back from the company. One of the things that was said was, they hoped we would give them another chance. Today we went back and I’m so glad we did. From the moment we walked in and we greeted with a big smile from the hostess until we left, we had an amazing experience. Our waitress, Dominique had the most wonderful personality. She was so much fun and she did an incredible job, taking care of us. Her recommendations were spot on and by the end of the meal we were reluctant to leave. In addition to the impeccable service, Carlos the manager went from table to table Making sure everyone was well taken care of. You could tell by his demeanor that he took great pride in running this restaurant the food was absolutely delicious. I guess this just goes to show that everyone deserves a second chance. Today’s experience renewed our opinion of Jose Peppers! What a great value for the money and we were never disappointed in any aspect of this restaurant. So there were a whopping 3 other customers here sitting at the bar with their drinks. I walked up to the bar to pick up my order. There were 2 employees doing the silverware and 4 others on the other side of the bar sweeping stuff, one looked like she might even been on a break because she's eating. I was standing there for about 4 or 5 minutes before anybody even acknowledged that I was there. There must have been a break in the conversation because at that point one of the employees came over and asked me if I was just picking up an order. I told her the name on the order and she went to the back to check and when she came outof the kitchen she went back over and talked with the other people that were cleaning. Shortly after that she came over and told me that somebody else was working on the order and it should be ready in a couple minutes. My order did come out just a couple minutes later.

I'm not trying to leave a bad review but I want to apologize for interrupting the employee's conversations and trying to pick up an order that I placed online. Also I arrived there probably about 10 minutes after it was supposed to be ready and it was still being prepared. I would understand if it was busy, but like I said the only other customers there were three people who I hope are only getting drinks because that's all they had in...
