We drove to Disneyland from Vegas for a little getaway. When in California, we like to make a stop at Mitsuwa, a Japanese market. After our shopping, we were really hungry and had to eat a hearty meal before making the 300 mile drive back home. Mitsuwa had an awesome food court, and the first place we looked at was Hokkaido Ramen Santouka! The menu was a bit confusing at first but it started to make sense. We made our choices, a salt ramen with a rice bowl of mentaiko and soy egg.combo, and a soy ramen with salmon and ikura rice bowl, and soy egg. They give you a buzzer to let you know that your order is ready. You can also order small, medium, and large size combos, and ours were both small. The broth for both the ramen were fantastic! It seemed like the kind I ate in Japan! The rice bowls were excellent as well, and the rice was perfectly cooked! I haven't had rice this good in some time. The only thing that was not that great was the soy eggs. The eggs seemed over cooked, a bit too firm, and the sauce tasted like plain soy sauce, but I'm sure there was other seasoning. I guess I was expecting the half cooked soy eggs with the runny yolk. Overall, the meal was awesome, and as I wrote this back home in Vegas, the meal field my whole...
Read moreOne thing I love about Mitsuwa is the side restaurants that you can dine in 🍜. The place is clean and well maintained. I love the fact that it is beside Del Amo Shopping center, so I would always come here after completing my shopping sessions.
The food? Pretty good! We ordered the rice bowl, spicy miso ramen and salt ramen. I understand people are complaining that the broth can be a little salty and I agree. However, you could definitely get some oolong tea to reduce the saltiness. Personally, the ramen texture in this restaurant is probably one of the best I have tasted ( I mean soft ramen? nope, this place serve proper ramen noodles). 🤭 Meat were juicy and had satisfying after-taste! I prefer eggs with runny egg yolk but the eggs here seemed overcooked. Nevertheless, I thought the spicy miso ramen was the better of the two because the broth wasn't as salty. As for the rice bowl, I thought the meat was seasoned well and they weren't as salty as their ramen. 🤷🏼♂️
Parting thoughts? I would recommend this restaurant if you love salty food. If you or your partner can't stand salty ramen, then they can always be a good friend or partner and try out the rice bowl and let you enjoy that ramen...

For years, I frequent Santouka in Torrance even when it was operating in Carson / Western area. The quality definitely deteriorated over the years and prices kept going up. About two years or so, after having their spicy miso ramen, I was so thirsty that my lips are dried up and grasping for water.
For a small ramen paying about $13 with tax, you get piece of charsiu, slice of fishcake, few strips of bamboo shoots and pinch of mushroom etc. The combo is better value for money, but will be overeating unless you're hungry, a big or growing person. There are many ramen restaurants in Torrance with better quality food and cheaper price than this outlet.
If you are there at busy lunch hours like I did, the noodles are not properly boiled and tasted chewy. Probably just pour the broth over the unboiled noodles in the bowl.
I abstained from going there to avoid toxicity and death in brain cells or feeling very thirsty whole afternoon as results from MSG in...
