Smashburger — Restaurant in Totowa

Left this location not too long ago with my girlfriend and son, we normally don’t have any issues when we come to this location. But I’ll add when we do come it’s normally still light out, today we came around 8:30pm. The girl at the register with the messy hair and tattoo half sleeve on her forearm had a nasty attitude the whole time. My girlfriend asked for a lettuce burger and we’ve ordered this before at other smash burger locations including this one to which it’s made with no issue. We asked if they do lettuce burgers here to which she said they do and put the lettuce on top and gave no further explanation than that, cool. Once we’re done ordering she just walks away so we asked do we get our drinks now or when we sit down. She annoyingly walked back to the register to grab the cups as if we were a nuisance for asking for what we paid for and is common sense to hand to customers after paying, as is done in any fast food chain. I understand she had tables to clean so it’s easier for them to leave at the end of the night. But come on now, you have customers and we were the only people there. There was no long line, no crowds, no loud noise, so why the nasty attitude? When the food does come out the lettuce burger isn’t even a burger, it’s just a patty and lettuce not even combined. And an order of smash fries wasn’t even made because she forgot to tell the two guys in the back. We go back up to the window to ask for a bun to which she clearly looks annoyed but it’s not like we waved her down or spoke in a disrespectful manner. Once we’re done we leave and get in our car to which it’s facing the window of the restaurant where you can clearly see her talking trash to the guy in the back with glasses. And how would we know this? Body language, she’s speaking with her arms in the air, talking with emphasis to show her annoyance. She needs a big reality check and shouldn’t work in an establishment that has anything to do with customer service or God forbid where she has to do her job she’s getting paid to do. Six. That’s the number of people who are currently getting paid to sit in an empty restaurant and pretend they didn’t see a customer when they walked in. It’s also the number of people your restaurant is feeding (for free) while paying customers stand there and wait for an extensive amount of time to [OVER] pay for food. Maybe they couldn’t hear the woman from the kitchen shout ‘someone’s in the front’ after she looked at me twice because they all have air pods in their ears including her (Unsure how that’s a thing in a customer-facing business but considering the other reviews… it clearly IS a thing here). I stood at the register for a good three minutes and every worker looked at me and ignored me. I actually was going to turn around and walk out because it was that obvious. I am the only customer in here (wonder why) and if I would have read the reviews then I would have gone to a different location. Went to grab ketchup and picked up four bottles from several [DIRTY] tables before I found one with some in it. The only consistent thing here seems to be the poor hiring. Not only am I cranky after coming here - I actually think I lost brain cells by sitting here. If I hear the word ‘bro’ shouted one more time I may lose it. I’m not even going to talk about the numerous violations I watched while sitting here concerning food safety and cross contamination of preparing to-go food. Stop writing that you care about your customers on your negative reviews…it’s double the work when you can just clean house on your staff and fix the issues you have. I have been dying to try there food since seeing their commercial on cable. To be more precise the triple double caught my attention. My first time there had me excited a little. I ordered the triple double and when it came to my table I thought they brought me someone else's order. I expected to see this huge burger. At least that is the impression one gets from seeing one on tv and then looking at their menu board. It is small. A lot smaller than one could imagine after getting an image in one's mind. That's the down side. Don't despair. Once you bite into it you forget about all that other stuff. It is so juicy, dripping cheese and meat juices along with a little fat from the meat as well, and makes you go through many napkins along the way. It is an extremely tasteful burger to say the least. The fries are some of the best I have ever eaten. They come out hot, crispy as hell, and perfectly seasoned. What else do you need in a french fry. The one negative which just so happens to be in part of their name was their shake. Very disappointing. They need to go to Sip & Swirl down the road. Get an extra thick shake there and compare the two. It's not even close. The Sip & Swirl shake might be the best shake I have ever had in my entire life.
