--------- Current Review ------------------
I regularly shop at the Bacione Pasta Shop in Bronxville, which makes excellent freshly made pasta. Because they have a great product, more than once I have arrived to find them sold out of what I was looking for. So today, I felt like pappardelle and called at 3pm to see if they had any. The girl answering the phone said they did have it and I asked them to put a pound aside for me and I would be there in 20 minutes. She told me she would do that and she would see me in 20 minutes. I drive over to Bronxville and walk in to the store 20 minutes later and find that:
(a) They only have a few strands of pappardelle in the display case (b) They don't have my order as I requested - The girl never put the 1 lb of pappardelle aside for me (not sure why - she was tongue tied) (c) They were making fresh pasta but it will not be ready for a while (10-30 min) and I would have to wait
I was angry, more about the waste of time than anything else. I asked the girl at the counter why she had told me to come over if they did not have it ready and she was unable to articulate an answer of any sort.
I took a deep breath and asked her again. She could not provide any sort of answer - just remained tongue tied, with a vacant expression on her face. I just left the store, angry about the wasted time and vowing not to come back there after that really bad experience.
------ Older Review ---------------- I usually pick up Chinese food at Hunan 3 next door and I was intrigued by Bacione. Up to this point, I have usually purchased dry pasta in the supermarket or occasionally fresh pasta in the refrigerated case in the supermarket, but have never visited a fresh pasta shop. I mentioned this place to my wife in passing and she immediately said she was craving fresh Pappardelle, so off I went. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and engaging and I ended up walking away with two pounds of Pappardelle, a pound of potato and cheese gnocchi, a small container of tiramisu, another small container of panna cota and some crème donut holes and Nutella donut holes. I made my own Ragu sauce using spicy pork and beef and it went well with the fresh Pappardelle, which melted in our mouths. No going back to dry pasta after eating the fresh variety. Fresh pasta keeps for about 5 days, so we will be trying the gnocchi with a meat sauce next. The desserts were amazing and overall, everything I purchased there was delicious and money well spent. I will be back next to try their marinara and pesto sauces and to get more...
Read moreWhat a little hidden GEM this place is! I was driving back from upstate and craved fresh pasta… I stopped off at Bacione for a quick bite. There are a couple tables inside (very small place with the intention of to-go) and was greeted by the cashier with a warm smile. There’s a display case with a plethora of different fresh pasta choices, and some additional meals to go. I selected papardelle pasta and on the menu board, there are several sauces to choose. You can add on additional proteins or cheeses. I selected pomodoro. There was a small group of 5 people sitting and an extra 2-top available. I sat to eat there. The cashier served my gorgeous papardelle pomodoro dining plateware as I sat and enjoyed my meal. I knew my hubs would be jealous, so I ordered pesto fettuccine with chicken, and I ordered ravioli to go. Everything was delicious! Super fresh. Everything very clean inside. It reminded me of a little pasta shop near a university in Venice where students ate delicious fresh pastas to go out of Chinese take out containers. I didn’t notice until I left, there are specials on the sidewalk board with entrees like salmon, and sweet potato gnocchi… loved it here! Will be back in the future...
Read moreI stumbled upon this establishment while looking for a quick Italian eatery. It's a small place with three indoor tables, enough to host six people.
The pasta is delicious but a bit pricey. I spent $30 for one dish and a beverage.
I hope my next experience is better. Looking forward to trying different sauces. There are no restrooms on site, but you can take items to go and enjoy the food at work or home.
During my visit, a gentleman’s kids were causing chaos in the tiny establishment. They spilled water, knocked down condiments, and touched the bagged mozzarella. I was splashed with water, and neither the gentleman nor the restaurant apologized for getting my pants wet. I didn’t say anything since I just wanted to consume my meal and leave as quickly...
