Churchill's — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

A delightful spot awaits you at Churchill's in Rockville Centre. A charming and cozy pub, this place is hopping! Joe, the manager, keeps a good eye on customer needs and staff, making sure your wait is minimal, be it for a table, entree, or bar bite. They enjoy a busy bar scene here between the crowd, TV's and Happy Hour Specials, and yet despite the ambient noise, the dining area is intimate and has an English pub feel to it. The menu has many comfort food favorites like Nachos, Wings, Pizza, Mac & Cheese, and Fried Calamari, to name a few. We started with their famous Nachos. Chips topped with a heartwarming chili, melted cheddar, and a dollop of sour cream. I tried their French Onion Soup with Gruyere cheese, and it was so delicious! The broth is rich with lots of caramelized onions. For dinner, it was cheeseburgers and fresh tuna with rice and roasted vegetables. Both entrees were cooked to perfection. The seasoning and portions were generous. While we had little room to enjoy dessert, we did manage tea and coffee. A delightful meal and one we look forward to returning and repeating, especially while the decor includes tiny white twinkle lights and green, red, and silver Christmas balls hanging across the ceiling. Tonight my friend and I decided to go to RVC to check out the bars. So the first place we tried to go to was churchills. We get to the back door there is a security guard. He asks for my I.D and my friends I.D (which is fine because we are both old enough to go to bars). My friend gives him his a I.D he looks at it and says he's good. I gave him my I.D he proceeds to stare it down i figured because he couldn't see my face the right way because the picture was in black and white. But no he says my I.D is fake and says I can't come in because it's fake. I explained that my I.D was real and he did not care.he didn't give me an explanation for why he said it was fake either. Next he says "There are other bars go there". Why would another bar let me in with a "fake" I.D. So I took my I.D back and walked around the building to the front door and asked the front security guard what the other guy meant by my I.D was fake. He said your I.d is fine. Idk if the security guard in the back was having a bad night or what ever but to say someone's I.D is fake, not let me In, and not having an explanation is ridiculous . Since we're frugal we visited this place using an online coupon available for Wednesdays. NOTE: They email the coupon, so you have to be on their mailing list and print the coupon. The place is large, clean, and modern, with the bar separated from the dining area. There is a large outdoor area. The rest room was clean. We started off with a beer. My wife hates many beers but loves a few, and the tap list was mostly craft brands. Usually she'll guess and order, and if she doesn't like it, I'll take it and she'll try again. Our waitress brought her a small tasting glass! We both got our first choice. My wife loves their short rib tacos, beautifully presented, delicious with perfect short rib topped with crispy fried onions. I had a short rib panini from the specials menu. It was nicely charred and the pulled rib was flavorful. However, just before finishing my first half I began to notice that though it was very nicely prepared, there was a sense of dryness. I know panini are usually prepared with cheese...I wondered if they forgot it? A small damper (so to speak). Fries were flavorful and nicely cooked. Service...
