Nordstrom Grill — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Went here with kids for lunch. The service was exceptionally slow. It took 30 minutes to get the bill, pay for the food and exit the restaurant. So much unnecessary waiting. The workers did not look happy that day either. The salad I got didn’t taste fresh and the shrimp was overcooked, too salty and chewy in texture. It had 5 pieces of dry shrimp and was $19! I don’t know if they were having an off day as a restaurant, but I was not impressed by this Nordstrom restaurant. I’ve been to others in HI and CA and those have never disappointed me. The lady sitting behind me in a booth actually would turn around and say, “shhhhhhh!” to my child out loud when she’d speak. In addition, I noticed other tables complaining about their food and sending it back. It was not your typical Nordstrom cafe experience.

It was windy and chilly out so maybe if we were able to eat outside I would have up the stars. But this rating is based on the food. We ordered the lobster bisque and it was delicious. We ordered the calamari and the calamari part was good but the red sauce that came with them was not good. It was too thick and not spicy. The shrimp basket we ordered had small shrimp in it not the normal good size shrimp. I ordered a 2 lb lobster that was steamed. The waiter said they had a special on a one and a half pound lobster and I should have said I wanted that because I think they charge me for a 2 lb but serve me a one and a half. The restaurant has a great location right on the water, but I wouldn't travel back there...

I have been coming here for about 8 years and can say the food keeps getting better ans better through the years. It was never bad but was never great. It was simple comforting food.

I had an early dinner here last week and it was great! Will was perfect and everything tasted delicious.

The burrata appetizer, the risotto special, the filet steak, and the bread pudding were definitely come back here again dishes.

Also try the Vesper cocktail if you are a james bond fan (from casino royale.)

We also ended up buying the Nordstrom cook book!
