This place is located in a prime spot. The food is delicious above average for those who love their local Chinese food and the prices are decent, similar to local Thai restaurant prices. The decor is nice, they have indoor and outdoor seating with an awning for those sitting outside. They make their dumplings by hand by the bar area for people to view the process. I thought that was pretty cool.
When it was time to order I asked for plum wine, the waitress said they didn’t have it so I pointed to the menu and she took the menu with her. A few minutes later she came back with something that didn’t look nor taste anything like the plum wines I’ve tasted in the past. I didn’t like it and when I asked if I can have something else, the answer was no. That ticked me off, my family jokingly said she probably didn’t give me plum wine and I have a half a mind to believe that to be true. Also we ordered a side of Dumplings with our appetizers and they came out with our main meal instead.
Other than those complaints, I enjoyed my meal I ordered meifun noodles with shrimp, it didn’t come with any vegetables but I had a side of broccoli that was sitting in a delicious sauce. I would totally recommend this place if you’re...
Read moreDO NOT ORDER ONLINE FROM THEM. I ordered food today and was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. When I got there, I was told to wait 10 more minutes. 20 minutes later, I was told they were working on it, but somehow lost the ticket, and that it was really backed up in the kitchen.
All the while there a number of takeout orders just sitting in the counter. And every time another one showed up it wasn't my order.
At that point, I was told by Chris that to cancel my order and get a refund, it would take 1-2 days for them to process the credit by the manager. For food I had never received.
During the time that I was speaking with Chris my order came, so I took the food that I had been waiting 35+ minutes for. Unfortunately, at home it lukewarm soup buns and cold calamari. The rest of the food was ok, but you can tell it was just sitting there for who knows how long.

Read moreDisappointed! The upside: the staff is outstanding: friendly, attentive, helpful. Some of the food was great (beef w/scallions, wonton soup, pan fried dumplings). The downside: the main entrees were average (grand marnier shrimp (bland, big disappointment especially after having Chin Chin's (Manhattan) signature version for years), chicken mango (blah), and BBQ pork ribs (not worth it). For the ~$100 ($85 food/$15 tip) we spent, I'd say it was worth $50 ($35 food/$15 tip) max. I plan to stay with Red Plum next door when we go out for Asian style food on the Ave.
So if you decide to try MC (which you should), stick to dumplings where MC excels and stay away from the stuff we found disappointing. Also don't get a table near the door in the winter: repeatedly get blasted...
