Marco Polo Restaurant is located just beyond the lobby and bar of the Great Neck Inn hotel. A new addition to the restaurant - now features Sushi by Chef Benny. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety offered on both menus. The restaurant is East Meets West themed so feel free to order off both the Sushi menu and the Marco Polo menu.
The Sushi menu consisted of classic rolls, a small appetizer section, and a list of signature rolls. Sashimi and Sushi options offered a la carte if you don't want to try the full entree. Note: sushi was very fresh and prices are very reasonable. The sesame tuna tataki was a nice full salad paired with sesame seared tuna, avocado, mandarins and crispy noodles. A sweet dressing provided on the side. Very refreshing. The garlic edamame was tossed in some chili oil and stir fried garlic. I recommend the sashimi entree which came with 15 pieces of sashimi. A la carte, I tried the uni, scallop sashimi and a classic yellowtail roll. Sadly no sake on the menu yet but there's a wine list, lots of cocktails, beers and drafts. Cross ordering from both menus is totally welcomed.
Service was good and our waiter was super friendly. Dessert options were interesting, think s'mores egg rolls, fresh fruit, cheesecake, a plate of cookies and...
Read moreCame here for dinner after checking in. We saw that there were supposed to be conference rooms in the hotel and we walked by the restaurant. There weren’t any obvious signs and the place was empty, so I asked the bartender if this is the restaurant. Then I asked how do I order. Then, in the sassiest tone ever the Irish bartender says “Yes so you sit inside and then wait toget your order taken and then food comes to youjust like any other restaurant buddy.” Woah. He must’ve had a tree branch stuck up there. Sorry I don’t usually walk into empty restaurants with no staff/customers and seat myself. Usually there’s someone who’s there to seat you :)
Not only did he ruin the evening, the food ruined it too. I ordered steak with broccoli and got something that looks like it came from the frozen section of Walmart. See this photo. LITERALLY NOT STEAK. He even asked me how I’d like the steak done, I said medium rare. Look at this photo. In no world is this medium rare or a steak. The funny thing is, we were the only two people in the restaurant but waited near 30 mins for this travesty. Don’t...
