Not sure if this is a reflection of Door Dash, or Denny's, as Door Dash delivered the food. So some of these items may be out of Denny's control.
I ordered the Country Fried Steak with Broccoli and potatoes, with a shake on the side and a cheesecake. I am visiting from out of town for business, so staying in a hotel. Ordered around 6:45pm, and the food arrived around 7:45pm. The first thing I noticed is that there were no utensils included. I recall on the order specifically requesting utensils, and whenever I order from restaurants from home, I always have utensils included. So the first challenge was that I would need to eat without utensils.
Once I opened everything up, I noticed the broccoli was very shriveled up. It was almost as if it was overcooked or microwaved, and not steamed. The potatoes had the same shriveled appearance- they were all very tough and chewy. Almost as if they microwaved them for a bit too long.
The steak was on a separate plate on top of the sides in a single container. The gravy was very thick, and covered the steak all around it, but was about 1/2 an inch from the edge all around. After finding some silverware at the hotel lobby, I cut into it, but noticed that the gravy was so thick and cold that you actually cut through the gravy. It didn't move at all on the steak, and after cutting none of it ran off over the edge. The steak itself was fairly cold, and the gravy tasteless. The steak tasted decent, but would have been much better had it been at least a little bit warm and with decent gravy.
I tried to take a bite of the broccoli / potatoes, but they were extremely cold, and very tasteless. I ended up spitting out both.
The shake looks like it had been prepared right away and maybe sat while the rest of my food had been prepared and delivered. It tasted like a very old and partially separated shake. I couldn't drink any of it.
Finally, the cheesecake.... if only the cheesecake had been included! They completely forgot to include the cheesecake.
I tried chatting with Door Dash, which they ended up calling me. At first, they offered me a $8 credit on a $36 order. I told them this was completely unacceptable, as none of the food was edible. Finally, after a bit of back and forth, they offered me a refund of everything except the "Door Dash Fees". I told them I wasn't going to pay for anything. First, I didn't get any silverware, so if the front desk wouldn't have had a spare set there, I wouldn't have been able to eat. Second, everything in the order was inedible, and I was missing items. Third, why should I be responsible for food that wasn't edible?
Finally, after telling them I would just dispute the charge on my credit card, they ended the call. Then, 5 minutes later, door dash called me back, and it was a different rep that had no idea what just occurred. So I went through everything again, with the rep stating they didn't see any refunds and again offered the same refunds with us going back and forth, before I just hung up after telling them I was just going to dispute the transaction.
Then, this reoccurred 3 more times- 3 different door dash reps called me and went through the same process over and over. Finally, a 5th rep called me, who somehow saw the notes from one of the previous 4, and stated they would give me an additional $8 refund to cover the door dash fees.
As it was now late at night, well past 9pm, I put my ringer on silent and went to bed. When I got up in the morning, I had not one, but sixteen additional calls from door dash up to as late as 1am.
Back to Denny's, though, at this time with the level of food quality, I would never eat from this...
Read moreIf I could give no stars I would. We were there for almost 2 hours. Waiter was trying his hardest but was all over the place and hectic. Made my moms smoothie wrong and was rude to other customers when they asked for something he yelled that he was busy and couldn’t do it. Our appetizer came out cold and had to be remade and kitchen staff was yelling at each other about it in the kitchen. Asked for another water never received it, was without a drink for more than an hour. Food came out and presentation was awful, my pancakes were cold, eggs weren’t cooked the way I asked, I asked for butter never received it, had to go get my own syrup off of another table. My moms bacon burger looked disgusting and didn’t even have bacon on it. Asked for a side of ranch when ordering and never received that. We were fed up with the service and didn’t even get to eat waiting almost 1 1/2 just to receive food. We got up and went to get our check and the lady was rude. We told her that we were not paying $40 for food that we couldn’t even eat. She had an attitude and exclaimed that she wasn’t even supposed to be there and her shift ended 40 minutes ago but she’d go get the manager. The manager didn’t even bother to deal with the situation and our waiter Steven yelled over that we could just go and he’d just pay for it. The service was awful, the staff was all rude and were yelling at each other in the back. This is the 4th time I’ve been there and the service is almost always the Same the last 4 times. We will not be going back - very...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. I have been going to Denny's for some time thinking that they actually care about their gluten free menu and people with allergies. WRONG. I have had manager after manager LIE and say the prep the food separate and for the English muffin have a dedicated toaster (I have gotten sick time to time from there but assumed it was from the grease bc I normally eat very healthy) Turns out, last time I went there (4 days ago) a waitress slipped me the truth! Nothing prepared separate and they use the same toaster for gluten free as they do normal! THANK YOU waitress for telling me the TRUTH! What you people do there by lying to someone that has allergies is VERY dangerous. To think, the times I left there sick is because denies was POISONING me and lying about it! Gluten allergies are very misunderstood and companies like you should not advertise gluten free if your just going to lie about it. I will NEVER visit your establishments again! And I will SCREAM to the world about your lack of knowledge and professionalism of food allergies
VERY...
