Alpina — Restaurant in Town of Southold

AMAZING!!! 💖👏🏻💖 This place is SOOOO GOOD!!! The food is unique, different AND DELISH!!! Being new to the North Fork I had heard of this place but had never gone. Last weekend we went to the 2024 Chili cook off at the Greenport Brewery and Alpina was there! Their chili was SOOO GOOOOD, that my hunnnies Jeff and I knew we had to make a stop at their restaurant in Greenport first chance we got!! We just went this past Saturday for brunch and OMG the choices, the flavors AND the ambience so warm and inviting!!! You won’t find your typical menu items here but that’s what makes this place so special!! It’s an opportunity to try fresh food and ingredients in a totally different way! We left there feeling satisfied but not overall stuffed and I’ll chalk that up to the freshness of the food! Although I try to steer clear of carbs (all depending on my choices and what’s in front of my face 😂 of course) I had to throw that out the window and go with the dish with a large round hash brown topped with smoked salmon and a poached egg!!! The names of the dishes I don’t recall but you’ll get my point 🤪! My hunnnies went with a dish with the most delicious mushrooms topped with an egg (I think) and onions!! We also ordered onion soup where they actually warm a particular cheese on the side and then come over and top your cup of soup with the cheese!! Because I’m a cheese lover I requested more!! I’ll add both pics so you see the difference! We also ordered a side of a bacon slice which was the real deal!! PLUS of course because it was brunch I chose my usual alcoholic companion 😂🥰💪🏻 which happened to be a martini they have already prepared that is topped with a red chili oil! For that I had 2 😜💪🏻. Overall SO HAPPY we found this place!! We live in Laurel, but definitely will be back to try the other items on the menu! They serve brunch Saturday and Sunday so want to make a point to try their dinner menu 🎉🎉🎉. PS they also have a huge bar that spans the whole side of the restaurant in case you are looking for that! I had been here before to get appetizers with three friends in mid-afternoon on a weekend. It was busy and the service and food were good. I decided to return with two friends in mid-afternoon on a Saturday.

There was only one other party at a table. I had been told the first time I went that they do different escargot dishes, and eagerly anticipated that. But the menu was the same and there were none on the additional typed menu. We all ordered full meals this time.

There was a clock on the wall and after over half an hour of not getting our food, we tried to get the waiter's attention for several minutes. He was too busy talking to the people at the back table to notice us, so I went up there to ask how much longer it would take to get our meals. After that he brought them out immediately, but they were cold.

One of my friends ordered chicken with a lemon-type sauce and capers. She found two capers and virtually no sauce. The chicken looked fried. We tried many times to get the waiter's attention, but he was still too busy talking to the other table in the back. This time my friend went back there. I'm not sure if they had given her the wrong dish or the menu had described it wrong.

All three of us were very disappointed and will not go back. We also did not recommend it to the 47 people we were meeting in Greenport to go on a group cruise. This is the first time I have written a negative review. This restaurant/bar may have been good at one time, but we will...

Was sat at the bar for drinks and food. The service was incredibly slow, and when we finally had the bartender come up to us and placed our order with him, he proceeded to forget, not just about the details of our order but that we had ordered at all. Then when he finally got us our drinks, they were wrong, and when we renewed our order they were wrong again. He continually messed up other patrons orders and then proceeded to get into a verbal, and, were it not for the interventions of others, physical altercation, with a patron (in front of multiple children). We felt physically unsafe in a very literal sense. We would have been happy to chalk this up to the actions of a loose-cannon employee had it not been for the fact that he was joined in his verbal harassment of the same customers by another employee and was subsequently allowed to roam the restaurant floor (again, with families present) without question by the restaurant staff and was even allowed to handle our check, which we immediately requested so that we could leave ASAP. When asking for the check because of how unsafe and upset we felt, we were attended to by the same employee who initiated the altercation and then we’re given the wrong check and had to have that fixed as well.
