Look, 9 years ago, my admittedly LARGE family (We were a table of 21 who asked for multiple receipts) came in for my daughters 21st birthday. The service, food, and absolute chaos that ensued convinced me to NEVER go back...And I didn't, until June or July of this year. Having been given a combo gift card set for Dinner and a Movie, my uncle, who I care for, came in and sat down. The waitress was a complete AIRHEAD!!! We placed our order...an appetizer, dinners with salads, dessert, and drinks. Which ALL came out together! Maybe, in my incredulous state, I was a bit snotty, but, I made her take things back, and bring them out in the right order. But, I had to ASK for our drinks. Which took another 5 minutes. But, hey, EVERYONE is entitled to have a bad day. So, on Veterans day, I again took my uncle in for the free dinner for Vets. We were seated, and told our server would be Alex, only for, You got it, the same waitress, Julianna, come prancing over. We had already been seated for 15 minutes, and hadn't even been offered so much as WATER! So, I asked for her drinks, and got a blank stair. And, waited another 10 minutes for it to come. When she finally took my order, my uncle ordered from the "special" menu, and I ordered to the regular one. We were informed from the beginning there was only ONE veggie available (Corn, which is NOT a veggie! It's CARB!) . So, I asked if I could get an Add-on Salad, instead. She said, "Sure", so, I added a house salad with Bacon...costs an extra $3.00ISH. AND, I had to ask that the salad come FIRST! AGAIN!!!!!! She brought out a tiny little rectangular dish 2.5"x3" or so. In it was sloppy, soggy lettuce, with a little cheese, and 3 SLICES of mushy, old grape tomatoes, and not enough dressing to cover it! (It equaled about 1/2 a grape tomato!) I certainly wasn't sending it back! I doubted I would have gotten it before I was done eating the rest of my food! So, I asked the hostess if this was the Add On salad with bacon, she said..."No, that is the salad that you get when you order it as a side". I told her it was NOT what I ordered. She said that she'd take care of us at the end of the meal....I don't even think she remembered, because she looked right at me as we left, and said "Have a nice night". Needless to say, Applebee's is off limits for me and my husband, from...
Read moreWe arrived just after 4pm on 11/29/22, and it wasn't busy. We waited as several workers were nearby and after a few minutes one yelled across the room for someone to seat us, and eventually the bartender sat us, she seemed friendly. Our waitress was extremely slow. Not sure if she knew how to work the handheld ordertaker or what the situation was. The table next to us got a wrong dish. One of our forks was clean, that was nice, but we had to send the other back as it had food particles on it. Our waitress had 2 other tables and it was quite a while before just our drink and appetizer order was taken and quite a while before they arrived. I asked if we could put in our dinner order and she said she has to take care of the other table and she'll be right back. 15 minutes later she took our dinner order then had to verify what we ordered since the handheld erased the order. The chicken in the chicken tortilla soup was gray and scary. The frustrating part was seeing the other waitress taking care of her 6 tables in the section next to us with ease, several tables arrived after we sat and they were already well into dining on their meals. At the 55 (FIFTY FIVE) minute mark without receiving our dinners, we were ready to just get up and walk out, when I saw our waitress coming our way with our dinners. The fried shrimp were pretty good and the fiesta chicken was alright. We ate it, as the table next to us complained that it was taking forever for them to get their bill. Our waitress didn't return to see how things were for the next 20 minutes, I had to get her attention to bring a box and the check, though she still only had 3 tables. She was quite attentive after she gave us the bill though, 3 visits in 5 minutes. If only that attention could have been displayed by our waitress whose first name started with at "T" during the prior 90 MINUTE TORTUROUS VISIT to the Applebees in Orange Plaza Middletown NY I'd be leaving a much different review. Lack of customer service from start to finish so wanted to share my experience in case other potential diners are wondering what this...
Read moreAwful experience...went on a Monday, they had maybe 12 tables in the whole restaurant. Table was gross and sticky. Server came right away, and took drink and appetizer order. 15 minutes later, gave him lunch order. I specifically requested that the app and food come out separately. Server said no problem, shouldn't be an issue since they were put in 15 minutes apart. It took another 10 minutes, and the appetizer came out (25 minutes to arrive) Appetizer was cold, but the artichoke dip in the center was piping hot. Within another 3 minutes, the meals came out, and were delivered by the manager ( I knew that because she had a manager tag on). I expressed the issue to her, that our appetizer is mostly cold, and there was a 3 minute window between the appetizer delivery and the food. Her immediate response was to blame the server, and say he put everything in the same time. Her only offer was to put our lunches back under the heat lamp, as she put it, until we were ready to eat them. As for the appetizer, she said that she could put in to have it completely remade, which somewhat defeated the purpose of getting an appetizer. At no point did she apologize, or offer any compensation. All she did was offer to put our food under a heat lamp, and threw the server under the bus. Not to mention that I asked for the chicken fingers to come with barbecue, came with Mustard, which I told the manager that delivered the food, she said she would bring the BBQ right out, 7 minutes went by, no BBQ. Server never came back, asked the hostess for it, she went and got it. Server didn't check back, had to stop him in his travels and ask for things. He seemed more occupied with chatting with the bartender. Had to ask for the check, had to wait a while for that, had to ask for containers, and wait a while for that. Took 2 hours to complete this dining experience with two kids and one adult. Considering the restaurant was not even a third of the way full, the level of service, and delay, was quite unreasonable. Won't be returning...
