I’ve always enjoyed going to the Point since they opened in Towson, despite the service being typically slow. However, after my experience yesterday, I will probably never be returning. We got there around 1pm and waited about 30 minutes for a table for 4. We sat down, understood it was a busy day but were not greeted for 5-10 minutes. We decided to do Bottomless Brunch which we should have known was a bad idea with how slow things were moving. When the server finally greeted us it was with a “What do you want” which took all of us, ex restaurant employees, by surprise. We ignored it and ordered bottomless mimosas/sangrias and then waited about 10 minutes for our drinks. We had to stop her from running off so we could put in appetizers. My friends ordered the deviled eggs with no bacon (due to being a vegetarian) and my boyfriend and I ordered crab dip. After about 20 minutes we flagged down the server to order another round and put in our entrees. Our appetizers didn’t come out for over 45 minutes which just seemed crazy but we let it go because the server didn’t acknowledge the long wait and frankly we were excited to finally have something to eat. The eggs of course came with bacon and we couldn’t find anyone to let them know the order was wrong and we had to flag someone down for silverware. After about an hour and a half of sitting there with empty drinks most of the time (I think 3 rounds in almost two hours is absurd when you pay for bottomless) we finally got our horrendous meals. The cheesy grits were cold (you couldn’t even melt the cheese?) My boyfriends breakfast potatoes were ridiculously charred and my burger was missing cheese. So we waited until we saw the hostess and asked her to please get a manager. We let her know about the issues with the entrees and she took the burger back and said they were out of potatoes and would give my boyfriend fries instead (as a server I would usually ask a guest what side I could get them when we ran out of the one they ordered) and again NO APOLOGY. When the meals were returned my fries were gone and I asked for a side of them, which of course never made it to the table. After expressing our concerns with the manager she said they had someone not show up for work today (I can sympathize but maybe you shouldn’t seat people you can’t accommodate), she told us she would discount our check and we asked for boxes. To me a 20% off discount is kind of a joke when you don’t even get some of the items you ordered, which cost more than the discount. The table next to us never got their orders in over an hour and ended up leaving and going somewhere else. I’ve always spoke highly about the place to friends and family but will be sure to let everyone know about our experience. I know unexpected things happen but when you’re paying for a meal you expect some kind of quality or at least apologies/remedies when everything goes terribly. Why would we return after being gouged for lackluster food and offensive...
Read moreFor Mothers Day we took my mom out to lunch and we were not pleased. I ordered the fat Elvis French toast without bacon because I am a vegetarian and it came cold, burnt, and covered in bacon an hour later. Our server disappeared 20 minutes after we sat down leaving us with empty drinks and hungry children. My 7 year old sister and my father both ordered waffles and the food runner brought out luke warm English muffins claiming they were out of waffles. We asked for a manager and he was speechless. My father told him he did not want a free meal and asked if they could have French toast instead. He promptly told us they were out of French toast. Terrible experience. It is one thing to run out of a few things as I understand Mother’s Day is a busy time but they had run out of nearly everything on their menu. The table next to us was seated before us and still hadn’t received their food. The manager claims in his response that they were waiting for more people but that is not what they told us. We were making friendly conversation when they said they hadn’t received food either, an hour after the rest of their party arrived. I am very disappointed in this restaurant. The manager says he came over multiple times but that is definitely not the case. We did book our reservation an hour before we went but if they were fully booked they should have simply told us that and we would have gone elsewhere. That is not an excuse for the service we received. After we received our lazy substitutes they told us that they were out of almost everything we had ordered which is why at that point we asked for a manager. I wish they had communicated that they were out of these things earlier. They never once told us what they were out of and instead just brought out these measly substitutes. The manager went on and on about how it was very hard to run a restaurant and to that we responded, then you shouldn’t be in this line...
Read moreIf you’re planning on hosting an event, I pray you’re fortunate enough to work with Steph!!!! Steph was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! I decided to plan a surprise birthday party for my wife, in typical husband fashion, last minute (a week before) and little to no prior planning.
I reached out to The Point via their online form submission for events planning. Steph called me back the SAME DAY!! In about an hour, just before another event she had planned for that day, we were scheduled for the following Saturday (5/29), under contract and the deposit payment submitted.
She let me know that we could meet during the week for me to view the venue outside of just the online photos, get a feel for the vibe as well as coordinate the decor, food and music. Full disclosure, I didn’t think about the decor and music until she mentioned it that day LOL!! So, thanks to Steph I was able to arrange balloons, a photo slideshow, an awesome playlist (curated by yours truly), determine the layout of the event and coordinate timing of food.
The day of the event, Steph did her a thing like the boss she is!!! I got the decor, games, music, and slideshow there barely an hour before the party and she was able to get a small crew together to get it all set up. As I left to get the Birthday Queen, folks had already started rolling in and Steph basically took the reigns.
When I arrived with the Birthday Queen, even I was surprised by the turn out! It was a massive success! Steph and the crew even handled the delivery of the cake and cupcakes, handled the layout of the food, and took care of all our guests needs from food orders, drinks at the bar and even miscellaneous stuff like music volume, dance space, lighter for the candles, and directing public traffic away from our event.
I am extremely satisfied with my experience at The Point Towson and beyond grateful to Steph and...
