I usually don't write bad review but this one I felt I must. This was the most horrible dining experience I ever had in my life. Today I went with my family to celebrate a family occasion. I picked an odd time to ensure there isn't a lot of people inside the restaurant. Host (forgot his name) was nice and he gave us a booth right away. He even gave crayons to my kids to draw. The waitress (Kendra) came after few minutes and we said Hi to her and she did not even respond. We ordered two dinners and two kids meal. She never asked whether I want Salad or pancake. I had to tell her I want Salad for one order and pancake for the other. I waited but she did not ask what dressing I wanted. I told her please give me french dressing on the side. We ordered couple of coffee which she brought but without any silverware. I literally had to half fill my coffee cup just so that I could swirl it using my hand. We waited for the Salad to arrive but she brought the meal and when asked she looked at me like I wanted something that I did not order. She went to her Kiosk to check (it was literally in front of us) and came back saying I will get it. She came back with the salad and Ranch dressing on it and left. We ordered shakes for our kids but while eating their food they wanted water but Kendra was nowhere to be found. After waiting, I asked the waitress who was serving another guest and she said she will let Kendra know. After few minutes she came back with a pitcher of water saying "You guys wanted refill?" And my wife was like well, we never had any water before so if you could kindly bring two glasses of water for the kids. She brought two tall glass of water with full of ice and left without any straws. Please know that my kids are 5 year and 2 year old. I had to take the straw from their milkshakes to let them drink that ice cold water. When I asked for the check, she brought it instantly and was waiting for me to pay. I was putting the jacket on my daughter and I had to stop half way through just because I felt awkward that she was standing there waiting for me to pay. I paid by credit card and she kept standing by the table watching me as I sign (I guess she wanted her tip). I left her a 20% tip though I am not sure she has earned it. The entire time we said Thank You like 5 times and not a single time she responded. Now let's talk about food. Dinner came with Broccoli and rice pilaf. I am not sure this Broccoli was even steamed. there was no seasoning or anything; rice was dry and so was the Tilapia fish. Lastly, I am done going to iHop but if any iHop management is reading this please make sure you hire the right people for the job or at least train them properly; otherwise you will lose...
Read moreI’m usually not one for chain restaurants, but someone recommended this IHOP, so I decided to give it a try. At first, I was actually impressed—the inside looked nice, clean, and the atmosphere felt welcoming. Our waitress was polite at the beginning, but unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there.
Another person at my table ordered an entrée that came with a side of fruit. Instead, the waitress brought out a side of pancakes with fruit. They thought it was my side of pancakes I had ordered with my entree and took one bite before we realized it wasn’t what either of us ordered, so they didn’t take another bite. When we let the waitress know, she said she would get my mom the side of fruit—but she never clarified that we’d still be charged for the pancakes with fruit. She also didn’t take the plate back or mention that because someone took a bite, we’d be charged. So to avoid wasting it, someone else at my table ended up eating the rest.
When the bill came, the waitressed explained only after we asked that we had to pay for the pancakes with fruit since “they were eaten.” That just didn’t sit right, especially since it was the server’s mistake and she never gave us a heads-up about any charges.
There were other small things that added up too—like being charged extra for caramel sauce just because I ordered a a flavored pancake (which seemed deceitful), which wasn’t explained beforehand. Also, regular pancakes come with three, but the flavored ones only come with two—again, not something anyone tells you ahead of time. These are the kinds of details that should be communicated clearly to avoid confusion at checkout.
Service was also really slow and disorganized. We found a small bug in one of the coffee cups, and it still took a while to get a new one and multiple times asking. There were only about five or so tables occupied, and I counted at least six or seven staff on the floor, so the wait time felt unnecessary.
Overall, the food was okay, and prices weren’t bad at first glance, but with the smaller portions (refer to photo examples) and poor service, I’d rather go to a local mom-and-pop diner next time. Usually, I don’t bother reviewing chain restaurants, but I’m writing this to give others a heads-up: double-check your order, ask questions about your bill, and clarify anything that seems vague. After tip and tax, each person paid $20 or more, which I pay the same if I were to go to a nicer...
Read moreMy husband, my 1 year old and me, went on a Saturday morning for breakfast. The customer service was horrible and we were racially profiled. When we got there the lady didn’t even offer my baby a crayons or anything but yet, there was a family of Caucasian’s and all of their kids had coloring books. The lady that set us down, set us a table, we ask for a booth and she said she wants allow to give us a booth because it’s a fire hazard, we been living in Troy for years and we have been to multiple restaurants and no one ever told us that our stroller is a fired hazard ( mind you our stroller is pretty small), the lady then proceed to offer us a booth and a booster seat for our daughter, since we couldn’t have the stroller open, as w sit down I’m trying to secure my baby on her booster seat, but it didn’t have a latch, long story short, my baby ended up under the table, since she wants secure she slipped from the booster yo under the table. My husband then get upset and ask the lady to change us because my baby fell and got hurt, he also ask to speak w the manager, we spoke with the manager he couldn’t care less, that my baby was screaming crying because she got hurt due to them not provided secure booster and didnt allow my baby’s to sit in her stroller. Worst experience ever. I have went to many ihops and never experienced anything like this. The were very rude...
