I can't believe I had never eaten here before. The burgers are incredible - just like homemade but better because no work is involved and you can have all the toppings you want!
Just a tip for any other greenies who have never been here before: ordering a regular hamburger or cheeseburger means TWO large patties. If you just want ONE patty, order one of the "Little" burgers.
Toppings include bacon, lettuce, tomato, all the condiments (including steak sauce), sauteed mushrooms, onions, pickles, and fresh jalapenos.
The fries were also terrific! Though the second time I went, they were a bit soggier, but maybe that's because it was pretty busy and they were rushing through the fryer. They don't skimp, either - a large order of fries may be $5, but they practically fill up a brown paper bag.
I also had a peanut butter and banana milkshake (real banana!), which was absolutely delicious. These guys do everything right.
My conclusion is that these kinds of places which specialize in just a few menu options focus so much on refining and perfecting a consistent product that by doing so, they polish their process and workflow until the product really shines. It works for Cane's and it works for Five Guys.
Outstanding. BEST FAST FOOD BURGER AND FRIES I HAVE...

5 Guys was never the cheapest place around, but they always gave generous amounts of toppings on the burgers and TONS of fries. This is no longer the case.
Now it had been about 2 years since I've eaten at a 5 Guys.
For $30 I got two "small" burgers, one of them with bacon and cheese, and a "regular" fry and "small" soda - not cheap. It used to be that a regular fry could easily feed 3 people as they would overflow the serving cup and nearly fill the bag halfway with fries - it was like this at every 5 Guys I went to for years! Now they just fill the serving cup. Bummer. The burger was average at best. The patty was greasy and not cooked that great. The toppings were sparing.
Adding to this my daughter was excited to get a milkshake but the machine was down. According to other customers in line it had been broken for at least a month. At least that saved us $6-$8 and I'm sure it would have been disappointing as well.
I understand inflation has made everything more expensive, but if you're going to raise the prices at least keep the portions the same!
I don't plan on going...
Read moreHorrible customer service, one of the managers named Gabe (or something of that nature) was very rude and condescending when taking my order. I also noticed him with toilet paper stuck to his foot when sweeping and he didn't wash his hands after handling raw meat and then putting on toppings. When he called my number he slammed the bag down and said "nice hair" and walked away laughing.
That is what really got to me because I just recently finished chemotherapy and have had to wear a toupee for the last month or so. I'm very self concious about it as I never thought it looked quite natural on me. I cried to myself in the car afterwards and hope nobody has to go through his disrespect ever...
