Party of 9 @ 5:30 was reservation time. Sever seemed very out of sorts. Slow service, managed to bring the only appetizer out that was ordered in a fairly reasonable time. Forgot the 3 ceasar salads and had to be reminded. She was polite and thanked us for reminding her about them. Then we got the salads. Ugh. Limp, room temp and swimming in a lemon juice bath of what was supposed to be ceasar dressing. At this point, it wasn't worth the battle to tell our server only to delay things more. After close to an hour, we finally received our meals. Food runners didn't know who ordered what so they just kind of auctioned off our food like we were at the fair. Whoever yelled got the plate. In general, the food was what everyone ordered, and by this point we were all ready to eat anything they brought. I will say, this was my 4th visit in 10 years and the brascioli definitely wasn't I remembered. It was piping hot, but the meat was paper thin, grey in color, salty and entire dish a little oily. Of course, I ate it, but I did miss the egg! Overall, it was way off the mark this visit. We split the check 5 ways (4 couples & a single diner) and chaos ensued. Our server, although extremely apologetic, was out of her league attempting to split checks. One couple even got there dinner for free because their meals "disappeared' in the system!? Entire experience was 3 hours and 3 minutes. We did bring our own birthday cake in and that whole production added a half hour on to the night, as well. Same owners, menu very familiar, over priced wine and pasta. Servers getting own mixed drinks, which made for same drinks looking different coming out to tables. Supposed renovation but nothing major that we all noticed. Staff, including the owners, didn't seem to be having fun or enjoying themselves. Maybe this was just an extremely off night for everyone, but being closed for a week should mean refreshed, excited and ready to rock! We may go back, but it'll be a few years. Way to much competition out there to settle. PS- for what it's worth, based on our visit, guessing average age of guests in the restaurant is late 50's or early 60's. Not a hip, trendy joint...
Read moreJust left Scali's with full bellies and joyful hearts. The host and waitress treated us like family. My husband made the comment "We must be dead, because only in Heaven could food taste this good." Hands down the best food we've ever had. Waiting for our meals was acceptable not only because we came in on a busy Friday evening with no reservations, but the food was not reheated, it was made fresh for us. I ordered the chicken Mediterranean with onion green beans and made myself stop eating so I could take home leftovers and order desert. The hostess hand makes the cannoli and it's amazing. My husband ordered the brascholi which is stuffed steak with homemade sauce all around. It was the best thing he has ever has from any restaurant ever. The server checked in with us continually, the hostess asked about our meal and service, the owner/chef was by the door when we were leaving and he asked about our meal and welcomed our praise. We advise you give it a try. I read all the reviews and can see how fidgety children may not be content, but there were children there enjoying their meal as we were. The reviews about rude service absolutely did not apply to our experience. Highly...
Read moreScali has been a favorite of mine for years. We had not been there in quite a while and decided to go last night, which was a Thursday evening, figuring a week night may not be as busy. We were wrong. We had difficulty finding a parking spot. We had a reservation so we knew we would be seated. It was odd not to see Judy greeting us . Our waiter was very pleasant and he took our order. Two entrees and Caesar salad. baked spinach manicotti and Chicken Mediterranean. After ordering it took over an hour for our food to arrive. There were multiple large parties in the dining room. I kept saying “This isn’t how Frank usually runs this place!” Our dinner finally arrives and my Chicken dish was smaller than usual and it was not as well made. The chicken was not as moist and the sauce was not the same and there was not enough of it. We were disappointed all around. I did not realize until the next day when I was sharing our experience with a friend that Frank has sold the restaurant. To be honest, I doubt we will be back...
