I’ve always wondered what US American Deli next to Dunkin’ Donuts was all about. I’d tried almost every other hole-in-the-wall restaurant in this Northlake area, and US American Deli was the last one I wanted to explore. Once inside, it was obvious that this was an independent joint, not the same as the other American Deli franchises around town. I was delighted to see that there was a sign next to the cash register that listed all the lunch specials available at the time I arrived. For $3.99, you could get a choice of various burgers or sandwich items with fries, and I was going to have the Chicago Dog!
But there was no one at the cash register. I heard people mumbling behind the curtain in the kitchen. After hollering and ringing the bell twice, it was a bad sign that they continued to ignore me. Finally, an elderly dude came out to take my order. As I pointed to the lunch special sign and ordered the Chicago Dog, he exclaimed, “Not today, not today” then scurried back into the kitchen without an explanation. He did not even ask if I was interested in ordering anything else. He just abandoned the front counter even though there were other people behind me waiting in line to order. I guess more customers were not desired today! Any eating establishment which does not honor their own posted lunch specials is not worthy of my time. My curiosity for this sleaze dump has been permanently...
Read moreI ordered a Philly with onions mushrooms beef and 5 chicken wings the chicken wings were decent but the Philly absolutely mediocre at best to a point where I passed a homeless person who had a sign called "I'm hungry" so I gave him half my Philly sadly I ate the other half as I was delivering 50 bucks to my account at my bank I return back after purchasing a water bottle and gave him some water because it's hot outside and even though he was under a tree I knew at some point he would be hot and thirsty I returned to him telling me you would "you were right the Philly wasn't all that"
When a Beggars literally wants to be a chooser you have to reassess how you make your food
Other than the Philly they had some of the strangest ice I ever seen I thought it was plastic at first
There's two employees there they seem like a married couple both of them wasn't talkative and was relatively shy!
Place was empty and towards the back you can see a gate now I was a little bit perplexed at the gate but I guess they use that set keep robbers at Bay when they close the shop
The prices seem like a scam Philly alone is 795 With five chicken wings with a drink it 8.95
And if you want fries added it's 995 the prices are competitive enough and customer-friendly for me to visit this establishment again
You're better off getting chicken from...
Read moreWings are really good but service is very slow even when you call ahead also there are some sanitary and food safety issues that are highly alarming leading to my decision not to eat here anymore. There was a dead mosquito or dead gnat on my drink can a few weeks ago and now this time there was A dead gnat on my food box. There must be a serious gnat infestation issue going on here. Understandably this could happen occasionally but has happened twice also no one is ever wearing gloves. It’s usually just an older man and his wife. I guess they are the owners. Nice ppl but a lot left to be desired. Place is outdated and business is business. It’s time to update and clean the place up. This is the food business and cleanliness and sanitation are TOP PRIORITY. Also dumped a HEAP of lemon pepper on my wings one day which was concerning for my blood pressure way too salty to enjoy and nickle and dime up charges for everything. Why am I charged like $3 extra because I want half drums and half flats. That’s the way it should be anyway. I mean all flats up charge makes sense or split flavors make sense but makes no sense to charge extra just because I want an even mix of flats and drums. It’s just giving greedy and unsanitary. Food is good but just step up the cleanliness and update...
