Read moreMe and my husband decided to eat dinner in this restaurant for our wedding anniversary with our kids it ended up nightmare… first of all the server was really nice. When we got in and we ordered family meal for $180 and a chicken sandwich, calamari. When we dug in and we were enjoying the food shrimp, sausage, king crabs, and corn. But, when I opened the crab that my daughter was eating I noticed it’s raw! So I called our server and told her our crab is raw and she said, “Oh yeah the crab is raw!” and she apologizes about it and took it back. I was disappointed and worried about my daughter with the food, because my daughter ate raw crab… So, my husband asked for the check! We decided to stopped eating. Then my husband saw that they were charging us extra $42 Gratuity which is 18% of the bill will be added if a party of 6 or more adults says in the menu lower left!! So my husband asked on why we were getting charged when there is just 2 adults with 4 kids, why would theSo the waitress got the manager.. So since they want us to pay the $42 I also told manager they gave us raw crab and my daughter ate almost half of raw food!!! Which, by the way, the manager blamed us for eating raw food! She kept saying why did you eat raw food! It is not!! Our responsibility to make sure that our food is cook properly? When all we want is to have a nice and cooked family feast! l can’t believe that’s how the manager confront me and my family…. So meaning we should watch our children on what they’re eating whenever we dine out? Aren’t we supposed to eat out with confidence and no worry on not getting food poisoning!? By the way, when we came sat down we saw someone vomit all over the floor. But, we didn’t judged base on what we saw of what happened there! Till we experienced it! That place need to be examined by health department ASAP! Especially since we have 4kids to eat their food!!! The manager can’t even talk nice. She seems upset at us when we were trying to explain our side. She thinks we’re mad because of the extra $42.. Not only the manager’s rudeness, but also we were disappointed that some of our food is raw! We left almost 3/4 of our meal in that place! Still paid it in full! 255 dollars amount. So the manager decided to take off the $42 and she say next time I won’t take the 42 dollars off again!! What? There is no next time going back to this restaurant. We paid $255 for the worst restaurant services and a non-friendly manager. She’s so rude trying blame us on why we ate the raw food. What a joke! -Angry Crab Shack (Owner) 6 hours ago Hi Lizz, This is not what happened as I was the Manager on duty and I spoke with you and your Husband. Yes anything over 6 people if no kid meals were ordered then there is an 18% gratuity added to your check. This happens at most restaurants. I did take off the gratuity because you were upset and I did not want to escalate the issue. You said to your server that you felt the crab was not thoroughly cooked so we made a new one for you and made sure it was temped out (as always) and the crab was not eaten at all. You also said that you were happy when the other crab came back and said the server gave you great service. As for the vomit on the floor someone spilled their Clam Chowder and was cleaned straight away so I'm sorry about that. I'm sorry your expectations fell short but we strive to deliver the best service and food. - Wow you are such a good liar lady manager it’s okey your words against “KARMA”! God...
Please read this whole review. I originally rated the restaurant at 4-stars.
The menu has a nice variety. I ordered the fish and chip, but the fish was really overcooked in my opinion, very crunchy after being deep fried. The coleslaw was very good though. I also ordered peel and eat steamed shrimp as an appetizer, but they came on a platter of ice with cocktail sauce, which to me is a shrimp cocktail. Perhaps it was my misunderstanding, but to me steamed shrimp is still warm, not served on ice. The main reason I didn't give a 5th star was that restaurant was like sitting in an walk-in fridge!! On top of that there's a Big A$$ fan wiping up the wind to make sure that frosty air reaches every part of the restaurant! It was so cold and windy that at another table the man when to their car and brought back jackets for himself and wife!! And yes, I did ask the waitress if there was something to be done about the fan and temp. She said she would see if she could get the temp raised up, but nothing could be done about the fan, which blew napkins off our table! So once our meals arrived it was a race to finish them before they froze over!! I don't think we'll be going back, which is a shame because I was looking forward to having a good seafood place on my regular rotation list of lunch places. 7/72002 I wanted to update my original review after being contacted on 7/1/2022 by Shannon who's the manager and owner. She addressed each issued that I mentioned in my original review. She stated that they have worked out what the issues were with the temperature of restaurant and that at the time the fan wasn't on a circuit that was known by the staff. She stated that the staff are aware of how to control the fan if necessary. As far as the fish, she also stated that it was an issue, also brought up by others, that has been addressed to Corporate HQ for change. She also explained the difference of peel and eat shrimp that I ordered, which I had stated that maybe I misunderstood what I ordered or what the server thought I ordered. I was pleased with her explanation. Overall, Shannon struck me as a very pleasant person who deeply cares about the quality of the food being served and the staff serving it. She seems genuine and very personable. I will be returning in the very near future and give Angry Crab another try, just based on the reason of Shannon taking the time to call me and address my review. This is something other restaurant managers or owners should take note of! I will post again after my next visit. 7/11/22 I wanted to update my review after re-visiting the restaurant again. First off the temperature was very comfortable. After our meal, which was very good and tasteful, I got to meet Shannon and discuss our earlier phone call. She was very pleasant and nice explaining how Corporate HQ has gone with her suggestion of changing out the fish for the fish-n-chips meal. She also indicated that other changes were coming to better improve the menu. Overall, I'm pleased with how the issues I presented were addressed and will continue to come to Angry Crab to enjoy fine seafood. Shannon, it a rarity among manager/owners in that she wants to hear from her customers so she can make improvements! I will now change my review...
Read moreAfter a long hot day, what a break to do a spicy Cajun seafood. Located in the southwest corner of the old Target store parking lot on Broadway, Lazy Crab Shack is a pretty good representation of the laid back Louisiama coast restaurant. The seating is very casual as is the staff. We got the sisters Fernanda and Gilda as our wait staff. Both are very professional, friendly and easy with a laugh. They took their time to answer our questions and were extremely attentive. We never wanted for anything. Gilda is the one with purple hair. My beautiful bride and I split a bowl of mild gumbo as a starter. She then had the chicken tenders with a side of onion rings. I got the breaded fried shrimp with Cajun fries and a double side order of corn bread. The gumbo was delicious, mildly spicy and full of sausage, chicken and all the the other gumbo stuff on a bed of rice. I don't need to know every ingredient to know MMMMM. Our main meals came next. The food came hot and crispy. Her basket was slightly slow to arrive, but this happens in a commercial kitchen. I'd rather have a single hot meal delivered than a warm meal warmed over then both delivered together. My fries were so stove hot that the first bites were dangerous. In a good way. The shrimp were a bit small, but hey, that's why they are called shrimp. I got a couple of shared onion rings and they were great. Sweet onions in a crispy coating. My bride said her chicken was crispy outside and very moist inside. That's a skill not every restaurant accomplishes. She added that the Cajon seasoning was zesty, not hot. I will add my fries has that zestiness too. The corn bread got the most comments at our table. The squares were small, about two by three inches. But what cornbread. It was savory sweet with a moist texture. Most notable was that it did not crumble as all other examples I've had do. My bride had a piece as well and made several comments about that. I predict we will find out how it's done for our home table. Its deserving of its own MMMMMMM. The prices for the basket meals was very reasonable. We actually spent less than we had at a recent chain for breakfast. Come by the Lazy Crab Shack to try a bit of the southern coast...
