Deciding whether to remain a customerš¤. I frequently eat at this Nico's (4-5 times p/week) and typically have great service and the food is great. For the month of February only I decided to go vegetarian. I recently ordered things that fall into that diet, however the past 2 experiences I've had make me question doing business with them moving forward. Last week I ordered the super nachos like always which usually comes with carne asada (steak). This time instead of steak I asked if I can have rice put in the order in place of steak. My first assumption was that it would be substituted in place of steak. WRONG... I was charged money on top of the regular steak cost and was charged extra for the rice even though no steak. Fast forward to this morning and I ordered a breakfast burrito. The number 1 breakfast burrito is sold with bacon, eggs, potato, and cheese. Instead of bacon I wanted to substitute beans because I only have a few more weeks of trying out this vegetarian diet. Once again disappointed because they charged me extra to add beans even though I requested no bacon. For me this experience has nothing to do with cost. It's about the principal. How can someone with a clear conscience feel comfortable charging more for less expensive ingredients? I'm not asking to be charged less money. Even the standard cost of the item would be acceptable when doing an exchange of ingredients, but to be charged additional money with some of the more costly ingredients being removed (steak & bacon), it's just BAD BUSINESS! March 1st I'm back to eating meat. Not sure if I will continue to spend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWeve been eating at most of their locations for years, mostly the north and northwest locations like Ina and also oracle and Campbell and or swan and always loved the food, but we've noticed something is up with them.
Have these guys been sold to a new owner or maybe having a hard time surviving??
The salsa used to taste homemade both the red and green, the green is still ok but the red has got to be the canned stuff- yuk just not the same as before.
The tortillas were always great and fresh like made inhouse, now seems like a cheaper version that is dry and just not what it's always been.
The cheese isn't the same and tastes more processed to save $$
We hope these aren't the signs of a business in trouble and circling the drain or new owners that just don't give a darn, cuzz these guys have been our favs for years and it's heart breaking to see them start using inferior ingredients to save a buck and to heck with the quality and fantastic taste that used to be their norm.
I'd gladly pay more even though the burritos aren't real cheap anymore than pay good money for a not nico's norm.
Just had a California burrito tonight and the fakeish cheese wouldn't even melt and the rest of the filler was just so so.
Come on nico's please kick it up to your usual cuzz we don't want to loose you on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe tacos were bland and flavorless, the steak in the burrito was tough... But the real experience-defining moment came when the seemingly sweet-dispositioned young lady running the cash register had a full-on freak-out moment in response to me correcting a simple misunderstanding on my order.
I was in no way confrontational, and actually very apologetic because it was my fault for the misunderstanding, but that did not preempt the very exasperated outburst and her telling me I was going to get her fired because she had to void a transaction... It was a rather ridiculous and confusing response that left my wife and I quite puzzled. Unfortunately, it was also enough to prevent me from ever darkening the door of this...
