I have been going to Lanna Thai for more than 5+ years I still think it's one of Tulsa's best Thai food spots. However, recently I am sad to say I am truly disappointed in their tipping. More recently I have been picking up food from here and taking it back the house. My last visit (thought it was one off situation so I didn't voice myself) when I entered into the establishment to pay with card the lady put a notification bell over the no tip button so I couldn't skip it (I moved it and clicked no tip as I was picking up I was taken back by this and never experienced this at any other restaurant). I was dumbfounded that they would be so grimey as to put that over for someone who didn't know you could move the icon. Mind you I am someone who always hits the 5-15% even when picking up just out of knowing they're working hard. Today when I called in a large pickup order the lady on the phone never mentioned my total but said I had to pay to place the order (no problem from my end understood) however, then after repeating my card number she said that's a large order what do you want to put 15 or 20% tip. I said I would not like to tip as I'm picking up the order and if I'm not forced I have no problem tipping 5-15% on a pickup order. She sounded very upset when I said I do not want to tip. If this is a money hungry cash grab or if the establishment is not doing well please state as a policy that all orders whether pickup or dine in require a mandatory tip and I have no problem paying it. Forcing people's hands in this ugly demeanor is certainly not it. I am sure just like everyone else for the good food they do not mind tipping. I am truly upset by this and I can confirm and guarantee I have always tipped here with...
Read moreI had little say in where we would dine this weekend—my wife and daughter took the reins and chose Lanai Thai. Having heard whispers of good things, I was more than willing to tag along.
Given that it was a holiday weekend, I expected the place to be bustling, but to my surprise, it was pleasantly quiet. As soon as we stepped inside, we sensed that we were in for a treat. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and we were promptly seated. Our waitress swiftly arrived with a friendly smile, offering us drinks and appetizers.
Before diving into the menu, I decided to check out the restrooms—a detail some might overlook, but I find it can speak volumes about a restaurant’s attention to detail. While the facilities were clean, they could certainly benefit from a refresh. A minor flaw, but worth noting.
We thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company as we waited for our food, and when it finally arrived, it was well worth the anticipation. The presentation was appetizing, and the aromas that wafted from our dishes were tantalizing. We eagerly dug in, and the unanimous verdict was that the food was as delicious as it looked.
The staff at Lanai Thai truly enhanced our dining experience. They were not only courteous and attentive but also genuinely pleasant. Our waitress, in particular, shared with us why she enjoyed working there—a small but lovely detail that made our visit feel more personal.
As we finished our meal, we couldn’t help but speculate about what we might try the next time we return—because there will definitely be a next time. Thank you, Lanai Thai, for the delightful food and...
Read moreDecent food, but their spice level system is perfunctory, and their carry-out process is broken.
The pad-nam prik pao talay was enjoyable, and the khao pad pineapple was decent, but their spice level system is quite disappointing. When I'm asked to select a spice level from 1 to 10, I expect 10 to be properly spicy.
I ordered their pineapple fried rice with lvl 10 to compare it to the extra spicy pineapple fried rice from nearby Tiger Bite and was very disappointed. Lanna Thai's lvl 10 is "fast food spicy" at best, which is a light-medium, in my opinion and, while I did like the pad-nam at a lvl 5, it was pretty much the same as the lvl 10.
In terms of service; I showed up planning to order carry-out in-person, but when I got there I saw their dedicated "take out" lane in the parking lot, so I figured it was best to order through their website and follow their process.
I selected curbside, entered the make, model, and color of my vehicle, then ran another errand before returning at the estimated time and pulled into their take-out lane.
After giving them 10+ min grace period past my ETA because they were pretty busy, I finally went inside to find my order sitting out getting cold. When I asked why, the person I talked to was polite and apologized, saying that they don't offer curbside anymore.
After getting back to my hotel, I found there were no utensils or napkins in the bag. The website had no option to request them or notification that they wouldn't be provided.
I got a text notification that my order was ready about...
