Frustration: A local business, Sunshine Furniture, has created a horrible situation for us. We tried to straighten it with them, but were constantly sent to voice mail or told they would give a message to someone when we went there in person.
We have a zero gravity frame and due to my health and my husband’s desire for me to hurt less, we decided to purchase to twin xl mattresses instead of the full sized king we had. I need something that will not press on my pressure points, but won’t completely give way.
We asked our salesman, we had purchased a Flexsteel recliner the same night, to show us some mattresses. Out of all the mattresses there, he showed us two Sertas. One he had, which he highly recommended, which was medium to firm, and the other was a more fluffy and soft mattress. I could not even handle laying down on the firm mattress. It hurt.
So, we agreed to purchase the more fluffy mattress. He filled out all the paperwork (I just filled out our address and phone numbers) and had my husband sign. He said the mattresses were in the warehouse and we would likely have them no later than Saturday. (We were in there on Tuesday.)
My husband had second thoughts when they did not arrive until Saturday and tried to cancel them on Monday. He was told he could under no circumstances cancel the order because it was a special order. We were NEVER told this when we agreed to purchase the mattresses. He was also told that it would be likely after New Years that we would get delivery. We were furious because there were two things we were not told, but decided that we couldn’t change the situation.
On Friday or Saturday, before Christmas…I forget which, we took delivery of the mattresses. My husband signed that delivery was good; they hauled away our old mattress. He was not given a receipt.
I had purchased appropriate bedding for the mattresses and we set them up. We slept on them that night and we both felt that they were a little firm. We called the store and they told us that there was typically a break in period.
I asked my husband if there were any tags that were on the mattresses, like a brochure type thing or maybe an instructional card. There was not. Eventually, we moved the mattresses around and found the product number, which I searched on the Internet. It was NOT the order that we had made. It was the medium to firm mattresses.
We contacted Sunshine and again we were told that they would not accept a return or replace because they were a special order. My daughter and I went up to the store and asked to speak to our sales guy. He was on a two week vacation and was not available.
We have tried adding a memory foam type of thing on top of the mattress and it does not really help at all. It actually makes it way too big for the sheets and they won’t stay on.
We have previously purchased living room furniture and I must say to be honest it was not the quality that they said it was.
I do not recommend purchasing anything from this company because of their shady dealings. If you do, make sure you thoroughly research it and make them lift the mattress to check the product numbers. Never in a million years would I have thought you would have to do this.
Sincerely in so much pain...
Read moreOk, first of all, I will start with the fact this isn't the first time we have dealt or done business with Sunshine. But, we will not do it again. We have bought different things from coaches to beds to tables. But the last time we bought from them, we bought a new coach and we paid for removal and haul off of a sectional that we bought years earlier. We informed them as we set everything up about this, they charged a 100$ fee if I remember right for service. Schedule the date with a large time frame. We took off l, set at house waiting. An hour after they where to be here, the called to tell us it be tomorrow first thing. So again fixed schedule to be here. Then morning came and started to turn into afternoon. Do we decided we need a fast turn around, so we moved coach to driveway for them. Now it's 3pm they call and tell us we are next. They get here 45 mins later. Bring coach in, put together, the start to get into truck. We stop them, tell them there's a haul off. They said at first we didn't pay for it. Show receipt of they payment. Then they tell us it was for a love seat not a sectional. So back tracked and showed they lied. Told us to call the store and take it up with them. They where going to be late to next , And left. Wife looked at invoice, it said sectional haul off. So we called 3 days and everything no answer and we left a message each time. Never heard from them, never got our payment for haul off back. Then had to pay someone else to do it after it rained on it.
Now this time, we are looking for a mattress, a special model, website says to get price to call. We figured good price, we'd skip haul off. No return call for 2 days. With 3 messages left. So, I left a message on website message form. No answer. So I emailed. Got an answer of sorts. We emailed back and forth through the day. Asked price and availability. Told it be end of month because out of stock. And some where around 1800 with delivery, but could be more. But I gave area where it be delivered. On website of mattress it's on sale for 2100. So thought ok will get it. Then emails stopped a bit. Then was told the rep I was emailing went home, they'd be back next day. Nothing next day. Email nothing. Emailed again today nothing back. I made it clear we wanted to buy. And if we needed to come in for payment fine. But nothing.
If you don't want calls/messages/ or emails about sales, don't put on website to call for price. And don't string someone along with no real answer. Just say come in, it's only way we do business. Im needing this mattress very soon. But everyday is another day longer on delivery.
Edit: i did decide to stop in, and found a very helpful man that went out of his way to help finding the exact model we wanted without pushing or pressure. Then had hick up on payment, thought we would not get it, but after leaving got call, things worked out and we even got it cheaper then was quoted to us at begin by nice gentleman. So, things worked out.
But still stand by my statement. Need to stay in contact with customer, still up until we walked in 3 day hoing pn 4 without reply, if it's phone/message/or email. And if you don't want to then remove the call from website and...
Read moreI recently moved to Tulsa and after deciding that this is a permanent move, I bit the bullet and decided to go furniture shopping... I HATE shopping for furniture as it is usually high pressure and nobody listens. I had the fortune of being able to work with Guy. Yes, that is the dudes name. I gave him a simple task of picking me out a bed set, but I wanted low end, mid range, and high end. He was able to do this in a very short time period and was VERY knowledgeable on all the products involved. Obviously I wanted to know "what makes this mattress worth more than the other one" and he was able to educate me as to why one is "better" than another.
When it came time to select one, I gave him my target price. He was able to stay under my target price (barely), but ensured that I would be happy with what I purchased. I am very happy with the bed and mattress that I got and it is so many times more comfortable than the one I had before.
Overall, this process was very easy and after this experience, I WILL be back to get more furniture. I have never had an easier experience working with a salesman in the furniture industry. I highly recommend working with Guy.
As for Sunshine Furniture, this place has an incredible selection. They have everything you can imagine under the category of "furniture"! The pictures posted make it easy to see that they have a HUGE inventory. The salespeople (at least the one I worked with) are knowledgeable and the range of the inventory ranges from entry level to high end. There are interior designers on premises and I saw everything from inside to outside furniture, children's furniture, nice rugs, high end massage chairs, recliners, basically everything that you expect to see at a furniture store except these guys have a lot more on the showroom floor. You WILL find what you are looking for here unless you are looking for absolute garbage or a diamond studded gold plated recliner with a built in tea maker.
Parking was easy, although there is currently construction (this is written in May 2018) that does make it a roundabout process to get to Sunshine from 71st. If you take the entry that is next to KFC on Memorial, it is easier to get to Sunshine Furniture.
They also work with multiple lenders and offer financing. I did this, and it was super fast and easy. Delivery is available as well and after a certain cutoff delivery is free but I did not hit that cutoff unfortunately. Delivery was way faster than I thought and the people that set my stuff up were quick and competent.
Once again, I highly recommend Sunshine Furniture. I also recommend asking for Guy when you go in. This dude will do something that many salespeople don't, he will LISTEN. Thanks Sunshine! See y'all soon!
TL;DR - Go to Sunshine, they have lots of stuff and are easy...
