Just left Boardwalk Ice Cream with my family- great spot to get Hersey hard Ice Cream near the beach.
The reason for 5 stars though is not really just for the ice cream though. It is to highlight an employee, James. He was the only one working this evening, which is the Sunday of Labor Day weekend.
When we got onto line it was moving slowly, but we are never in a rush so we waited it out. It was past 10 pm when we got into the store, not realizing they close at 10. Once we were inside we noticed that James was the only employee, both scooping and checking out.
By the time we got up to get our ice cream is was about 20-30 min past their closing, again we only knew this because at that point it seemed very overwhelming how consistently long the line was and James being the only person there.
Our family communicated with the family at the end and they let people know the open sign was off- although the line ahead of even the last family was going to keep James there for a while (still roughly 20 people on line)
Long story short: James is an outstanding employee, he has standards and rules that his employer put in place that he did not want to break and did not, even in a very stressful situation. So 5 stars to him.
1 star to the management and owners of the establishment. To leave any employee to fend for themselves on a holiday weekend at one of the closest stores to the most popular part of Tybee Beach is horrible. Support your...
Read moreI came into Boardwalk IceCream this morning (July 1, 11am) to see if there were non dairy options for my friend. The 2 amazingly courteous and professional young men that were working the counter let me know about the Italian ice. She didn't end up getting anything (just because of not being hungry,) but I got the cappuccino swirl? I think? Anyway, it was amazing. But, what impressed me most about this place was the guys working. Seriously, how many teens/young people do you see lately with a GENUINE big smile, and enthusiasm about giving good customer service? They seemed to really love making people happy. And, that made ME happy to have...
Read moreSuch a fun and yummy stop on Tybee Island! Boardwalk Ice Cream had so many delicious options including plenty of non dairy treats, which made me so happy because there’s usually not as many options for people that can’t have dairy. I got the pineapple Dole Whip (so refreshing!), and my husband ordered the blue Italian ice… we ended up swapping because his was so insanely good. Seriously one of the best flavors I’ve had in a long time! The shop has old-school charm, lots of sweet treats, and everything was super affordable. Definitely worth a stop if you’re...
