After traveling to multiple places in the past few months I can definitely say that this is the worst dining and service experience I’ve had. I was on a trip to Georgia to surprise one of my old college friends last week and I looked up nearby restaurants, I liked what Windrose had on the menu and ordered my usual- the Chef salad. I used to work in a restaurant so I understand that the staff are typically overworked and underpaid, so I chose to ignore the fact that it took over 45 minutes for the salad to come out. I was starving after my flights and started eating quickly but after a couple of minutes I felt unappetized and stopped eating. I had this weird aftertaste in my mouth as if something was rotting in the salad. This was around 8:30 pm, I went back to my hotel and woke up at around 3, I was vomiting every 15 minutes not knowing how to deal with this being alone and away from home. I felt like my soul was coming out of my body. I have never once gotten food poisoning and I looked up all of my symptoms, which convinced me that this is what I had. When I called the restaurant to let them know what I ate and what happened, I kept getting re-directed to different staff and managers, with the bare minimum apology and no accountability. The staff was extremely cold and rude on the phone, completely not caring about the situation. This happened to my dad years ago at another restaurant and he ended up in the hospital due to dehydration. I basically paid $12 to get food poisoning and ultimately ruin my short trip, I never write reviews but this really needs to...

The lovely woman on the phone took the order without flaw, and it was ready by the time I walked from our condo literally across the street. The meal came with a drink. We got the turkey and dressing, with collards and mac and cheese. The collards were smoky/porky and cooked so tender they literally melt in your mouth, but not in a mushy way. The Mac and cheese is casserole kind, like with the egg added, not the saucy kind. Dressing was soooo flavorful and moist, heavy on the poultry seasoning, in a very good way, and not overly saged at all. The turkey had a good flavor, a tad dry but honestly whose Turkey doesn’t fall victim to that on occasion, and the generous side of gravy provided the perfect pairing. The meal with tax was right at $12, and I was stuffed and happy to put the box with leftovers in the fridge for snacking on later.
Keep in mind it is strictly 21+, and a smoking establishment, so no kids dining inside. Which is why we just grabbed as to go.
I look forward to trying tomorrow’s...
Read moreI think it's more of a 3.5 star place, but, it was entertaining to sit at the bar...
...Walked in and asked what they had to drink - the bartender asked in return if I had ever been into a bar...I already was starting to think I was going to like this place. After picking the first beer I could see, I was handed a menu and sat back and enjoyed the entertainment.
Now, by entertainment, I mean: The bartender giving it to all the local flies at the bar and even the never-been-there's like me. It was a hoot. It was all in good fun and I can't recall the last time I was at a greasy spoon like this where I had such a fun time with the banter.
Food-wise, I ordered their fish tacos which were fried and had this chipotle mayo drizzle on it - very good - actually superb as far as bar food goes. Also, the portion was massive - three big chunks of fried fish, drizzled with their sauce, and with a heaping supply of fries. I could barely finish the tacos and hardly made a dent in the fries.
This is the kinda place to come back with a squad, hopefully I'll get that chance...
