We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights, in three different rooms.
We reserved a king room with spa after viewing the red room online - as the presidential suite was not available. We checked in at 6pm on Sunday night to room 7 at the end of a long path in the dark with no light at the door to see the lock. Upon opening the door, saw that the room was not red, much smaller than the one online and had a different hot tub. Unfortunately, at this point the front office had closed, so we made the best of it. Came to also find out that there is an electrical panel (unlocked) above the tub, the toilet wobbled, there were no towel bars just brackets, there is no security chain on the door and the sink leaks. Went to the office in the morning (Monday), spoke with the manager, he was very much not concerned at all about anything that I was explaining. He offered a refund, but that would mean leaving even though we were booked for 5 nights. We had no where else to stay, so we made the best of the day. When we came back to the room that evening (it had been drizzling), we had to walk through a giant puddle to get to our room. At that point, we were done with the situation. I went back to the office, where a nice young lady was very concerned and offered to move us to a different room of similar rate, albeit without the spa tub. But at least it wasn't through a puddle in the dark. So we moved all of our stuff to room 4 and started over. Over the next few days we discovered that there were a few issues with this room as well. There was no security chain, the toilet seat slid side to side, there were no towel bars, just the brackets on the wall, the bathroom door handle is about to fall off, the top bunk board bracket falls off the wall, the shower curtain is brown and disgusting, the tub spot is falling out of the wall and when you pull the knob on the top to run the shower, most of the water comes out the bottom with little more than a trickle from the shower head. Then on Wednesday evening we came back after dinner to find that someone had checked in to the room next to us (5) and they were playing very loud music that was drowning out our TV, smoking pot at the door to their room (whole patio smelled) and being very loud. We gave them until 9pm, but they weren't slowing down and were instead getting louder. We called the front desk and the very sweet older lady said she would speak with them about the music. Well, we heard her tell them that they got a complaint from the neighbor about being loud and the music and she told them they weren't supposed to be smoking in the room. As soon as she was gone, they were back to being loud again. I went to the office and asked if we could move to the front room on the corner and she allowed that. So we moved again. That room also had issues. There was no security chain on the door and an outlet falling out of the wall in the dining area. This was the best room of the three. When we checked out on Friday morning, the manager took the key and didn't even acknowledge anything that had happened of the five nights. This was especially discouraging since we had been told that someone was checking in to room 4 that night and they would have little...
Read moreWe are no strangers to Tybee Island. We have been visiting for 12 years. As a matter of fact on our very first trip we stayed at the Atlantis Inn. So, expectations were not 4. Star accommodations by any means. However, clean was high on the list. We walked down the nasty hallway past a used Qtip and a clothing tag on the floor. To our very dirty and grimy door to room 18. Upon opening the door the very first thing we saw was the fluid stained box spring and the disgusting marks on the walls along with the hairball the size of a baseball in the bathroom, a dead palmetto bug, There was a crusty substance in the door handle of the beat up mini fridge and I was too scared to open the microwave. Unable to get another room anywhere else on the island or even at the Atlantis we headed to Walmart. We purchased a bed in a bag and extra sheets to cover the box springs, a jumbo can of Lysol and paper towels. After our 6 hrs drive from TN we spent our first night of our “vacation” sanitizing our room. I kept trying to trick my brain by saying “we’re camping” over and over again. Now, my husband cleaned the bathroom and would not let me in until he was done. Once he finished he explained that there was diarrhea spray all over the toilet and into the bathtub. He wanted to spare me of that disgusting sight. The property itself was no better. Along with the expired fire extinguisher in the hallway, the exposed hot water heater and oil heater in our closet there was trash and cigarette buts EVERYWHERE! Piles of them. The stair rails were broken. One slip in the wrong direction and you would be hitting the pavement. The laundry area was just as disgusting as the rest and if you look closely you could see the front desk guy in there doing laundry in between “cleaning” rooms and working the desk. With all that said I know I left things out bc it was way too much to remember. We contacted the front desk and they could not refund us or move us to a cleaner room. I contacted Booking who also contacted the property which responded that the property wasn’t willing to refund or find another room for us. So we were stuck 6 hours from home in a room that made the fear of covid look like child’s play. We never let our feet hit the floor without our shoes and the purchase of bedding and Lysol did bring comfort but who knows if it was actual protection. I guess in this day in time customer service is out the window because we have all been at home and dying to get out the service industry feels they don’t need to give us what we pay for they just take our money and tell us to make do. We will most likely NEVER EVER return to Tybee Island. 12 years of tradition gone but...
Read moreTERRIBLE!! Let me start by saying, their website was VERY misleading on the room..the room I was booked for smelled horrible..they gave me another room, the smell wasn't as bad, but you would definitely not want to stay in this room either..the couch in the room looked awful..it should have been thrown out a long time ago..very old and worn..to top things off, there was a big hole in the shower covered up by a piece of paper that was stapled over it..for $190 a night, this was something you would expect from a room that you would pay $50 for!! They had tree limbs and brush covering up the walk way to where you couldn't get around it, blocking one of the other rooms..I called the manager, the day after I left, and he didn't seem to care..he said the room was fixed NOW and it was being renovated at the time I was staying in it..there is no justification for this..I didn't care that it was now fixed, what about when I was there trying to having a nice and relaxing vaca that I was years over due for?! He explained there where renovations in that room at the time I was staying in it..I explained if there were renovations at that time, he should have put us in a different room..instead he wanted to argue that he had upgraded the room and gave me a discount..really?? According to their website, this room was the same price as all of the others, and then he said if I had booked on the day of, it would have been cheaper..if I had booked the day of, there was a chance that there wouldn't have been a room available and I explained I wanted to make sure all I had to do was check in and start my vaca..so much for relaxing in my room..I had way more fun outside of that room..and they had a hot tub in it!! That is really sad and disappointing..no one should have to go through what I did while trying to have a good time and relax..they should be ashamed of their place and the prices they are charging during their renovation..where were the pics of all of these problems on the internet to let me know in advance that this is what I was staying in..Manager did NOTHING to make this right for me..acted as if he didn't care and didn't want to hear it..next time I am on Tybee Island, I will NEVER stay here and will take my chances and book on the day...
