We were on vacation. Arrived on Tybee Island around 4:30 pm. Unpacked our SUV and then began to look for a place to eat. When our first choice had a long line, we decided to go to Fannie’s since we had eaten there on a previous trip to the beach and had enjoyed it. The hostess was not very friendly. She told us it would be an hour wait. We agreed and informed her we would go walk on the beach until she called us to be seated. We were not asked if we would like to sit outside. We never like sitting outside. After around 30 minutes, we got a text asking if we were on our way or if we were canceling. I texted back that we were coming. Upon arriving, the hostess led us to a table were my husband had sat down to wait. We thought she would return and seat us inside. In fact, she told my husband he would have to move. The table was broken and did not have an umbrella as the other tables did. The waitress came shortly and threw three menus down on the table and placed the ketchup bottle on top to keep them from blowing off the table. She took our drink orders (sweet tea) and brought a salad that my husband had ordered. The wind was blowing so strong that it was difficult to hold the menus. She never came back to ask if we needed refills. Our granddaughter needed more tea. We sat there for at least 45 minutes waiting on our food. People were coming and being seated inside. I asked the hostess if we could be seated inside as the wind was so strong we had to hold our cups of tea to keep them from turning over or blowing off the table. My husband was concerned that his lettuce would blow off his plate. He had to try holding his plate, napkin, and tea while trying to enjoy his salad. He said the salad was very good and we all agreed the sweet teas was good. The hostess refused to honor our request to be moved inside. I told her we never like to complain, but it was not pleasant having to battle the wind. I then asked could we get our meal to go. She said she would let the waitress know. We continued to wait, but our food never arrived. We then decided to pay for the salad and teas and leave. The hostess and waitress preceded to tell us that it was just nature and they had no control over the wind. While that was true, they did have control over where their customers were seated. The waitress was particularly rude to us. We informed them that we would not come back and the waitress said to us good you are not from here anyway. So if you aren’t local then you don’t deserve to receive good service I suppose. This experience was entirely different from our previous experience eating at Fannie’s. The service and food was good the previous visit. We visited three other restaurants on Tybee Island while on vacation and the service and food was excellent. We felt that these establishments appreciated having us as customers. We aren’t rude people. We treat others with kindness. and expect the same in return. We were respectful in our request to be seated inside. My husband’s health is not good. He is easily chilled as a result of cancer and radiation treatments. Sitting in the wind trying to enjoy his salad was very unpleasant for him, as well as, for our granddaughter, and me. We hope others will be treated better than we were while dining...

So a couple things happened that really set me and my group off:

My friend got the shrimp quesadilla, and there was almost no cheese which is literally what makes the quesadilla a quesadilla. Not to mentiom the pineapple overpowered the whole taste(The Spanish word is literally in the name). Another friend got the portobello tacos, and there was this weird topping on the bottom, almost like a seaweed, that ruined the whole flavor of the tacos. The water also tasted very fishy, and we never even got refills.

Service was awful. We had a table of 5 and only 4 of us ordered and the waiter literally walked off, and ignored a whole other table that was in our group. It took 10 minutes for him to get 4 waters and a sweet tea. Since he forgot to take the order of someone in our group, we had to call him over the next time he was near by, and finally took the order and our other table with us. Let's skip to the end when we paid, some of us got charged for things we didn't order, so we sat for an extra 30 minutes trying to sort that out, the "large" drinks we were charged for were less than half a foot tall and we're almost the size of one you could get at a snow cone stand. We tried asking another worker who was cleaning the table next to us if those drinks were actually large only for us to get ignored. My friend got charged for a sweet tea that she never got (it was someone else at the table) so she waited 13 minutes for him to take the $4 sweet tea off of her check, only for him to come back with ONLY the sweet tea on the check. Then after we got it all finished, we went to the pier next to the restaurant. When we came back the plates from our food were still sitting there (we were outside). Remember the person who was forgotten when we ordered? Yeah, we had all finished eating and were waiting for 15 minutes for him to get his food. Part of his order didn't come right but we went along with it anyways.

Honestly if you are ok with possibly having to wait 15 minutes for a check, go for it. Watch what you get, and we probly could've been a bit more confrontational about the issue with the drinks and checks and waiting. I might go here again, if we had a different waiter who actually...

I want to start off by saying, I have been coming to Fannie’s on the Beach since I was a little girl. The restaurant itself is as old as I am. This restaurant has always given me a sense of nostalgia, I look forward to going every time I’m in Tybee. My experience Saturday 6/21/2025 was beyond words, shocking.

My husband and I had a late lunch and grabbed a couple of appetizers around 2 pm. We were seated immediately, our waitress was extremely rude and dismissive every time she was at our table. Just a very weird experience.

Fast forward to dinner, my Dad wanted to grab dinner at Fannie’s, we went and had 4 adults and 2 toddlers in our party. We were told that it would be about 20 minutes my Mom gave her phone number to get a text. We decided to walk around to the beach shops while we waited. An hour goes by and we haven’t received a text, so I call the restaurant to ask about our table. The person that answered the phone said that she has no idea because she doesn’t seat people, I asked that she asks whoever does seat guests. She puts me on hold and tells me we are third in line, I asked how much longer it will be and she says she has no idea and hangs up. We head over to the restaurant and once we get there, people are being seated immediately. The hostess catches my eye and says she’ll go ahead and seat us.

We are seated, the waitress is just as rude as the one we dealt with at lunch. She comes to our table to take our drink order, my mom orders a Bloody Mary. We didn’t see her for about 20 minutes, my dad got up and paid for the drink we had already gotten, and we left. We went to Pier 16, the food was AMAZING as was the service.

To have a bad experience on vacation, is bad in itself. But to have such a terrible experience at a place where you have so many memories and had such comfort in feels pretty crummy. As much as I hate to say it, just don’t wast your time or your money. They honestly do not care, that...

The best thing about this place is that it’s a short walk from where we stay. And the service was great both times, but keep in mind we went last week which is fortunately never as busy as peak summer weeks, and for lunch. We got kids burger, kids shrimp, mushroom tacos, buffalo chicken, mozz sticks, chili cheese fries, and I know I’m forgetting other things. The kids enjoyed their kids meals. It comes with a pack of gummies as the treat. We got them one day, and the next they were left off of our order but we didn’t notice until later that evening when one of the kids asked for theirs. Whoops. The buffalo chicken was…chicken. We wanted buffalo shrimp but were informed they don’t do that, but could bring fried shrimp and a side of buffalo sauce, but they wouldn’t toss it together in the back. I don’t get it. The mozzarella sticks were crunchy, freshly fried. One day they were triangles and the next the regular frozen tubular ones. The chili cheese fries were BANGIN’. Tad heavy on the beans, but flavor was so good. The mushroom taco plate was sad. I was craving something that would excited my taste buds, and this looked promising. Marinated shrooms, wasabi crema, pickled onions, then the pineapple salsa for the beans and rice… oh how I wished I had skipped over it entirely. Flavor was a total mute. The small serving of mushrooms were lost, I honestly think the wasabi crema was missing bc the flavor never popped up…nothing exciting. The red rice tasted like plain unseasoned white rice, which was sad bc I had almost ordered an entire side of that alone expecting it to be super flavorful. The beans that were barely on my plate shared same story. It’s basic beach food. Or maybe these just weren’t two great days. I will say however that the wait staff we met were very friendly, helpful, and efficient. 10/10 on service.

9-29-18 - on Tybee, decided to return, with wife and daughter. Had Shrimp tacos, Shrimp Poboy, and Shrimp dinner. Service was professional, attentive, etc. Crowded, but we were able to get in upstairs. My shrimp tacos were not hot, so our server got them to make another. They were better. My wife was not too pleased with the shrimp dinner, but we made it through. Came back since were in the area for Nachos Fannie, drinks, and Italian Pizza. My wife didn't like her frozen concoction, so they took it off the bill and later went to Wet Willie's. Nachos were ok, but if you're not use to the chips a certain way you will not. Pizza was good. Service was good again. 4 Months Ago - Very nice restaurant near the beach at Tybee Island. Set uostairs, overlooking the beach. Many people were there, and there was live music. Manager MarSheila was very accommodating and found us a seat behind a large party. Lea, our server was very nice, helpful, and more. Nice view and within walking distance of shops, etc. Food was good. Had Brisket sandwich with fries. And also chips (which were house made) with queso, and onion rings as appetizer. Ambience was good and sat near a couple in a boat table.

We ate at Fannie’s after we arrived on Tybee Island. It was the first place we ate at and the food was OKAY. Fannies was not overly busy as we arrived after the dinner crowd. We were a larger party of eight. Two ordered the chicken and waffles. The others had a low country shrimp boil, chicken fingers, fried shrimp and the Ahi Tuna tacos. The two with the chicken and waffles said they were okay. Nothing to brag about. The shrimp boil was just okay as well. I had the Ahi Tuna tacos and it was definitely not the best I have ever had. Our server was okay as well. One of the people in our party ordered a beer and it took forever to get the beer. Before completing the beer he asked for another as it too so long for the first one to arrive. After multiple reminders the beer finally came and was told that it was in the house because it took so long. Mind you we were one of maybe three other tables. According to the menu soda and tea were $5 and only included one refill. Luckily we weren’t charged extra for the one or two additional soda refills that a few of us got. Maybe it was just our luck but we will not be returning.
