I took my sons out for lunch before a movie today. We arrived at noon (on a Monday), and it wasn't busy. There were only a few tables occupied with guests. The host was polite and professional and seated us at a booth. Our waiter, Rick, didn't take too long to come and ask for our drink orders. He was polite and friendly enough, but forgetful? I had asked him a question, which he said he would ask management and get back with me, and he never did. He also forgot to comp my dessert, although I had shown him my app reward when ordering it, and he said his computer already showed him everything about my online app profile. (đł which I thought was kind of weird) He comped my dessert quickly enough when it was brought to his attention and was quite nice about it. He was good about checking in with us and refilling our drinks throughout our stay. As I said, it wasn't busy inside, so I'm not sure what took the kitchen so long to cook our orders, but we were there an hour and a half from arrival to departure, and it made us late getting to our movie showing. I ordered the Bacon Guacamole Burger with fries, and a Strawberry Daiquiri. My burger was so big I couldn't bite into it with the buns, so I removed them and ate it without them. I ordered it well done, and it came out perfectly and tasted very good. My fries came out cold, however. They would have been delicious had they been fresh and hot. My Daiquiri came with a lime in it, which is weird, Daiquiri's don't normally come with limes, and i hate the taste of limes, so every sip tasted off to me, making me wonder if it was in fact, a margarita, instead of a daiquiri. The hot fudge brownie pizzookie dessert was okay, i woukd have preferred if they had cooked the brownie part just a tad longer so it wasnt so soft and mushy. One son ordered the BBQ Tri Tip steak medium rare with mashed potatoes and fries, as well as a Berryburst pint and The Lucky Ducky. The little bathtub it comes in, with the little plastic duck in it, is so cute. He said both drinks tasted very good. He also said his steak and potatoes were very good and he thoroughly enjoyed his meal. My other son ordered the Rib Eye, well done, with a baked potato and French fries with a Long Island Iced Tea. He enjoyed his potatoes, but said the steak was too fatty, and would have preferred it to be seared longer, as it had a too-soft texture and he would have preferred the steak to have a bit firmer texture. It also lacked flavor and needed some seasoning for his preference. The baked potato was okay, just a normal baked potato. He said the LIIT was very strong and tasted good. Overall, we had a nice time, despite the long wait time to receive our food and my fries being cold. It's not a place I will probably visit again. It's a little pricey overall, and I would've enjoyed a meal somewhere else just as much or more, than I did here. My total bill, with tip, was $160 for 3 meals...
Read moreWent here in honor of my brother who passed from brain cancer. This was one of his favorite places.
Unfortunately, this was a bad experience for both my wife and I.
From the offset, the waitress/hostess took the experience downhill. No smile, no polite greeting, but only a disgruntled employee. There were very few people there at around 2 p.m. so it wasn't, or didn't appear to be an overworked situation. It didn't take long to realize she had a problem as the next couple that came in, which we could see from our seat, she treated similarly.
Our server-in-training and his trainer were polite and courteous and took our order without problems. Rather than giving the "new guy" a bad impression, we saught a moment with the trainer and explained the spiraling problem at the front door. Within moments the manager came by to speak with us. Listening attentively, he said it was a perfect opportunity for "coaching" his staff, which he did privately by all indications.
While the initial situation was resolved as far as coaching and addressing the employee, it did somewhat dampen our meal, moment and experience.
Pictures of what we had are shown. The ahi salad was "okay" but the ahi tuna lacked flavor. The portabella hamburger my wife had was phenomenal according to her and our "pazookie" desserts were terrific - all three!
All in all, we would give the experience a three-four They would have had a five if it weren't for our initial greeting and setting.
Lastly, it is good that a manager can address the problem professionally for customers and emploees as well. One never knows what is going on in the servers, greeters or staff's lives. A timely intervention can be beneficial on...
Read moreMy wife and I have been coming to BJ's for a number of years now, and returned because the food was reasonably priced, and quite tasty. I wish I could report that was the experience today, but it was not. We were seated promptly, but, even though there was minimal traffic in the restaurant, we finally saw a server about 8 minutes after being seated. She was courteous and very attentive, and got the order without trouble. The drinks arrived promptly, as did the salads, which were yummy, as always. Unfortunately, the restaurant was "out of baked potatoes", which was a big negative in both our books. They also would not substitute the beignet for the usual ice cream concoction, something about "not being able to enter it in the computer"; this is odd, since we have done this substitution for over a year. Times change. The prime rib was tasty, although medium was rare. They forgot the horseradish and au jus, but the attentive waitress corrected the mistake quickly. Unfortunately, the desserts arrived in the middle of the main course, and when they were brought back, they were cold, suggesting there was little attempt to correct the error properly. My advice to BJ's is to get their house in order. It wasn't busy, and the food should be properly timed, and side dishes available. Potatoes are not truffles, after all! Three stars for mediocre management. The food we ate was decent fare, although we certainly have had better at the price point. Wait staff was attentive. Not really sure...
