Having ordered from Roi Siam on more than one occasion the food and service has been generally good. Today however not so good at all. We ordered the combo fried rice (along with some wings and another combo fried rice)and requested medium heat to it. Once home, after one bite it was clear that the chef was heavy handed and it went from being medium heat as requested to burning hot. We called and spoke with a female employee who was argumentative about it. I brought the dish back to the restaurant. When I entered the restaurant I tried to make light of it all that the fried rice was overly hot and was met with a very defensive, argumentative employee who insisted we simply can’t tolerate spice food and next time don’t order it spicy. The fact she would make such a statement is absurd being we absolutely LOVE spicy food and have a pretty high tolerance for various heat levels. Instead of simply taking the item without a argument she continued to blame us for not being able to take their level of medium heat as if we were a couple of spicy food amateurs.
Also it should be noted that both orders of combo fried rice we in fact not combo but just chicken. The wings were no better than what you would get from Walmart’s hot food section. They were soggy and drenched in sauce.
Hate to say it because we’ve met the owners who are very nice but will not be returning as a customer...not so much about the food but more so because of the employee's poor attitude and argumentative behavior on something that should that should never have been a issue on her behalf...
Read moreThis place makes some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had (and I’ve had many). Wanted to leave a review because the place doesn’t seem very busy and as far as Thai food is concerned it’s a gem. Love their tom ka gai as well as pad kee mao and all their curries are delicious. Also home to one of the best Thai iced teas I’ve ever had (could be personal preference though - different strokes for diff folks lol). Please patronize this place so they can continue to make delicious food!
Updated review: this place has lost its way. Their tom ka broth used to be a delicious coconut milky, limey, spicy concoction... tonight it was watery. The spice levels used to be perfect - I asked for medium which used to pack a punch and tonight I received a tom ka with no spice at all! Luckily I had my own red curry paste at home to rectify the situation. In the broth used to be tender mushrooms, beautiful red peppers, and chicken; tonight it felt like they took whatever was left over in the kitchen and put it in! Their pad Thai was below average. It just didn’t taste that good. Overall extremely disappointing as this used to be my favorite Thai place in the area. From authentic, truly delicious cooking to barely average Thai dishes in less than a year. You could taste the love and passion in these dishes. That is all lacking now. Three stars as a challenge to return to your former...
Read moreI had a doordash credit expiring so we decided to order for delivery from here one night. It looked pretty promising since it had 4.5 stars on Yelp.
Unfortunately, the food was not good. We started with the Chicken Dumplings. The description mentioned 'Steamed stuffed chicken, served with soy ginger sauce'. I think it is not unreasonable for us to believe there were steamed dumplings. Instead, they were fried to the point where there dumpling skin was super dry, and it was super oily overall. I also had a tom yum soup since I was in a soupy mood. It was way too spicy, and salty. That's pretty much all I tasted.
For the mains, I had the pad see ew. The noodles were not bad. But I love flat rice noodles so it would take a lot for me not to like it. However, the chicken I had ordered it with was so overcooked and dry. My fiancé had the Kao Pad Roi Fried Rice (Thai style fried rice with egg, chicken, pork, Chinese sausage, scallions, onions and tomatoes). I didn't find any pork in there but the chicken was the same situation - dry AF. It was also pretty bland overall. They could have taken some salt from the tom yum and added it here instead. Not sure if it really would have helped though.
Definitely will not be ordering...
