My family visited this restaurant on a Wednesday evening around 6. I suppose the sign at the hostess sign declaring in all caps "URGENTLY HIRING ALL POSITIONS" should have been a warning sign that we would have a poor experience, but we'd eaten here in 2019 and had a good experience. I had previously ordered garlic fries and the chipotle burger and enjoyed it, so I ordered that again. My son ordered wings, my husband ordered a pastrami burger.
The food came out relatively quickly....at least the burgers did. The garlic fries were clearly made using bottled minced garlic- I could taste the sour vinegar flavor of the liquid preservative. The excess liquid quickly soaked into the plate of fries, making them soggy and sour tasting. Garlic fries should be made with fresh chopped garlic, in order to prevent the fries from absorbing the liquid preservative, and because jarred chopped garlic has a nasty aftertaste if it isn't cooked.
The chipotle burger was a travesty. The cheese was not melted through- it was just shredded cheese piled on the patty. A few shreds were melted, but most were just congealed together, partly melted, and the center of the pile was still cold. The chipotle mayo was completely missing from the burger. And the "spicy chipotle spread?" It was literally chopped canned chipotle peppers- no seasoning added, and not evenly chopped. Chunks of chipotle pepper just smeared onto both sides of the bun. This was literally inedible. I took 4 bites (hey, I was hungry and remember, the fries were awful!) but I couldn't eat more than that. Within 5 minutes my stomach was in so much pain that I went and sat in the car. Mind you, it's been a full week now and my stomach is still not back to normal from the massive shock of eating chunks of chipotle pepper on the burger.
Apparently my son's wings showed up at the same time as the bill. My husband brought them home and reheated them in the air fryer and my son ate at home.
My husband said he would have complained to the waitress about our order, but considering she didn't even know what beers were on tap and seemed completely overwhelmed by her section, he didn't bother. After all, it's not the staff's fault that management can't run the place properly.
Skip this restaurant and hit up In-N-Out next time, it'll be better...
Read moreMy family and I came into Burger City for dinner on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was decently busy between dine-in, take-out and food deliveries. There were open seats, so we were seated right away.
Service (3/5 stars) Our waiter was pretty busy and seemed preoccupied. He took the order at the table next to us first even though we were seat first. He did take our order right afterwards which was not a big deal. We wanted to order the Valentine’s Day Specials (advertised as “All Month Long”), but was not available until Valentine’s Day, so that was disappointing. It was about average time to get our food. We did place a take-out burger to bring to our other son who was home, but when the check came we noticed the waiter had forgot to place the order, so we had to wait an additional 15-20 minutes to get it. We also had to ask him for a take-out box for leftovers twice and neither time did he bring it. My wife had to go up to the counter to get a box.
Food Crab and Avocado Sandwich with Potato Salad (4/5 stars): decent amount of crab for the size of the sandwich and seasoning was a little bland for me, but was ok. The potato salad was really tasty. Fish and Chips with Coleslaw & Broccoli Cheddar Soup (3.5/5): my son said the fish could have had more seasoning and was bland. The fries were not that good. The coleslaw was very good though. The broccoli cheddar soup was good, but better at Panera. Swiss Mushroom Burger with Potato Salad (4/5): my wife said the burger was just ok and nothing special. The potato salad was good. Famous Cheeseburger with Coleslaw (4/5): we got this takeout for my son and he said it was really good and preferred it over In-n-Out. He really liked the coleslaw.
Overall, I would rate this visit at 3.8/5 stars. I have had better service in the past and other food items I have had in the past were better. Burger City is a popular spot for locals and is a decent restaurant to...
Read moreWe went to Burger City to have breakfast today March 16th 2024. We saw things you would never see or pay attention to if you sat in the front. The main reason why we’re writing this review is because we expressed our concern and it seemed like it didn’t help. Let me start from the beginning. We got there and we were seated close to the coffee grinder. One of the servers (the one that wears a right hand brace, they don’t have name tags) went to grab a new coffee filter, not without licking her three right fingers to grab the filter and carried it on her right palm (where she has the dirty wrist brace ) to the coffee maker in the front, to start the new coffee pot. After we mentioned it to our server. The server who had licked her hand before came back to grab another filter, looked at us, licked her left fingers this time, grabbed the filter and coffee and went back up front! It felt like she did it deliberately. 🤷🏻♀️ Also all the servers behind the counter walk back and forth collecting money, cards, handling the register and we never saw them wash their hands afterwards. Also when they clean the tables after a guest they never clean the condiment bottles like the ketchup, salt shaker, pepper shaker… when you handle them they feel either sticky or grimy.
Just food...
