Beautiful Ambiance, Excellent Drinks, and (MOSTLY) Great Service - There was a strange and unnecessary interaction that felt more like a reprimand than a friendly redirection, which is unusual for the high level of service I expect from the Four Seasons brand.
I’ve been visiting Four Seasons properties since childhood, and they have always set the gold standard for luxury hospitality, exceptional service, and warm, detail-oriented staff. While I don’t always stay at the Four Seasons when I travel, I make it a point to visit when I’m looking for a refined yet inviting experience.
On this visit, I stopped by Tavernetta for après ski drinks, and overall, the experience was excellent. The setting was stunning—our table had an incredible view of the snow-capped mountains, and the wine selection and cocktails were top-notch. The service was attentive and efficient, making for a wonderful way to unwind after a day on the slopes.
That said, I did have an odd interaction with a manager that took away from the overall warmth I typically associate with Four Seasons service. My friends and I were seated next to a terrace door with a beautiful mountain view. After finishing our drinks, my friends stepped outside to take in the scenery through an unmarked, unlocked door that gave no indication it wasn’t meant for guests. As I gathered our coats, preparing to leave, a manager approached and said he wanted to escort me to the “proper” exit because the door near our table was letting in a draft. I completely understood and even apologized for not realizing, but what surprised me was that he stood next to me and waited, insisting on personally escorting me out—even after I had already agreed to take the designated exit.
It was a strange and unnecessary interaction that felt more like a reprimand than a friendly redirection, which is unusual for the high level of service I expect from the Four Seasons brand. If this particular door is an ongoing issue, I’d suggest simply locking it or adding clear signage rather than making guests feel like they’ve broken a rule they didn’t...
Read moreWe had a lovely meal with delightful service by Chantel. We were seated in the back room near the fireplace and we were warm enough. The volume of the chill lounge music was low and not as annoying as usual. We would have preferred Italian canzone. Jay, the restaurant manager, circulated on a Wednesday night in low-ish season and we like that. We had bread, an antipasto, a pasta and a main, as well as dessert—much more food than we typically eat but we shared it so… The focaccia was great—with a crust that was kind of like a cracker (but not made with cheese) and we dipped it in the offered olive oil and vinegar. For our starter we had the vitello tonnato and it was delicious—with fried capers and olives to make it more interesting than the classic. Then we had the Mafaldine for our primo, a type of pasta that we weren’t familiar with. We enjoyed it although we could not taste the fennel in the sausage. We liked the pangratatto and the rapini. For our secondo we had the venison, after we quizzed Chantel on whether it was tough. We were assured it was not and we asked for it medium rare to rare. It was cooked perfectly and was tasty and tender. The accompaniments were enjoyable. We asked for a special Italian dessert called zabaglione but got something entirely different (next time we’ll give them a recipe). But we weren’t charged for it! Our meal was terrific and we hope that Bobby Stuckey’s entrée into Vail will raise the level of the quality of all the restaurants in town. We spent $184 and...

As longtime fans of Frasca in Boulder and its sister location in Denver, we arrived at Tavernetta Vail with high expectations—and it absolutely delivered. Located within the Four Seasons, the restaurant is beautifully designed, blending warmth and sophistication in a way that feels both inviting and refined.
We began with the burrata, served with a vibrant homemade pesto. It was soft, creamy, and perfectly balanced—easily one of the best starters we’ve had in a while. We also shared the insalata mista, a simple but delicious salad. We asked for the buttermilk dressing to come on the side, but honestly, it didn’t need it. The greens were fresh, well-dressed, and generously portioned for two to three people.
For mains, we shared the gluten-free spaghetti (available by request) with uni, dungeness crab, and ossetra caviar- bold, luxurious combination that was flawlessly executed. We paired that with the Alaskan halibut, which was perfectly cooked and beautifully plated.
To end the meal, we enjoyed a couple of glasses of moscato alongside their panna cotta—a delicate and satisfying finish.
Service was attentive and friendly throughout, and the overall experience was seamless from start to finish. We’ll...
