Annapurna Indian Restaurant is a hidden gem that brings authentic Indian flavors to the heart of the city. As a vegetarian, I was delighted to find an extensive menu filled with traditional Indian dishes, making it a haven for anyone looking to savor the true taste of India.
The ambiance of Annapurna is warm and inviting, with soft lighting and traditional Indian décor that immediately transports you to India. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, offering excellent recommendations for those unfamiliar with the cuisine.
One of the highlights of my meal was the Dal Makhni. This dish was cooked to perfection, with the lentils slow-cooked in a creamy sauce that was rich and flavorful. It had the right balance of spices, making it a comforting dish that warms the soul.
Another standout dish was the Baingan Bharta. The smoky, roasted eggplant was mashed and cooked with tomatoes, onions, and spices, creating a dish that was both hearty and satisfying. The flavors were well-balanced, and it paired beautifully with the garlic naan.
The menu also offers a wide variety of other vegetarian options, from paneer tikka to chana masala, ensuring that every palate is catered to. And no Indian meal is complete without a cup of chai, and Annapurna’s chai does not disappoint. The fragrant tea, spiced with cardamom and ginger, was the perfect end to a delightful meal.
In conclusion, Annapurna Indian Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Indian food. With its extensive vegetarian menu delicious Dal Makhni, and flavorful Baingan Bharta, it’s a place where every dish is a celebration of Indian cuisine....
Read moreWe had a very disappointing experience here.
Before going, we called to ask if they served halal food. The person who answered—most likely the owner—was extremely rude. He abruptly said, “Only lamb,” and hung up on us.
Despite that, we decided to try the place because we were in the mood for meat. When we arrived, the man at the counter was in a rush and kept saying, “Hurry up, the kitchen is closing,” even though there were still about 30 minutes left. I understand Desi restaurants sometimes close early, but you still need to give your customers a couple of minutes to place an order.
They only had goat curry as a halal option, so I decided to skip meat and went with chana salan and malai kofta instead. Since the kitchen was closing, we ordered tea along with our food.
The food was just okay. The roti was paper-thin and too crispy, not what I expected. The paratha was very disappointing—it seemed like they just poured oil on a regular roti and served it separately.
To top it off, the server forgot our tea. When we reminded him, he casually said, “No issue, one minute,” and brought it out shortly after. Unfortunately, the tea was also not up to the mark.
The restaurant is located inside Evergreen Lodge, with no clear signage outside. You have to walk through the hotel entrance and find it at the far end on the right.
All in all, from the rude phone call to rushed service, forgotten tea, and below-average food, this was a very poor experience. I wouldn’t recommend this place, especially if you’re looking for decent food options or basic...

the food was so flavorful. spice was incredible - so comforting and filling. dishes are small but so satisfying. we got the #15 and #19 off the vegetarian menu and both were incredible. came with rice and easily shareable. the #19 was the star - the veggie balls are incredible. we got medium spice and it was perfect. it was not too spicy - just the perfect kick. super creamy and light too.
we also go a chai tea, which the serve free refills - it was AMAZING. hot and spiced deliciously - not too sweet. the waiter would come over with the carafe of tea and pour it from a multiple-foot long stream with perfect aim that made the tea nice and foamy. it was super creamy, dairy milk inside. a meal for 2 was only $28. insanely cheap for Vail. incredible value.
the service is amazing. they are constantly aware of the tables and customers’ needs and are very chivalrous. always came back with more water whenever we needed it. and even taught us some Nepali. they call chai tea “chia”.
the decor inside is very festive too. prayer flags everywhere and photos of beautiful Nepal on tvs. such a good, cultural vibe. 5 stars.
