The Sitzmark was absolutely incredible to us. We used hotels.com to book a standard king bed room at a very fair price, seeing as it’s location could not be more central. After arriving and being in the room for about 20 minutes, we noticed the toilet wasn’t flushing properly, but didn’t really want to make a fuss so we decided to take the free bikes they offer out for a ride. Very quickly we came to the conclusion that the chains on the bikes did not fit properly because any time we tried to accelerate they fell off, losing control of the bike. Seeing as this is actually sort of dangerous, we wanted to tell the front desk so other patrons wouldn’t have the same problem or get hurt. The front desk associate was very nice, asked about our room and how it was, so we decided to bring up the toilet flushing issue as well. The associate, Clara, was quick to respond in the most surprising and hospitable way. She immediately upgraded us to the Bridal Suite, at no charge. THE BRIDAL SUITE at a downtown Vail resort. All we kept think was how did we get so lucky?? Our one night mini vacay turned into one of the most romantic and special days for us, thanks to Clara. The room was incredible, the views out of this world, the sound of the river heard through the French doors to the private patio overlooking downtown Vail. Just beautiful. To show her a small token of our appreciation my boyfriend went down to thank and tip her, and she repayed us yet again by gifting us a bottle of wine and two glasses on the house. Can you say customer service?!? PLUS the fireplace in the room (yes our very own fireplace) wasn’t working at first and Clara within 45 mins, just enough time to head down to the Left Bank restaurant attached to the hotel and enjoy one of the best cocktails weve ever had (as a bartender and a chef with 28 combined years in the industry, THANK YOU MJ aka Mary Jane!!) she had it working again, just in time to enjoy some in suite dining, because honestly who would ever want to leave that room. So this is a big THANK YOU to the Sitzmark and Clara for making our one night so special, we truly will...
Read moreIt's a cozy hotel - breakfast staff are friendly and it's easy to strike up a conversation with other guests during breakfast and the daily afternoon soup and hot wine in the lobby. Breakfast is great - an assortment of pastries, cereal, and bagels accompanied with waffles, fruits, coffees, and juices is available as self-serve. It's perfect for skiers and snowboarders, too. A ski and snowboard locker is conveniently placed by the entrance/exit and the hotel's a short walk to Gondola One (though it might feel long when encumbered with gear, skis, and boots). Inside the hotel, a small elevator eliminates the pain of taking the stairs in ski or snowboard boots. The rooms are quite cozy. There's plenty of space in the room, closet, and drawers to store gear and clothes. Beds are spacious though my mattress was on the hard side. The pillows are also high and hard, so good news for side sleepers. The TV also has a variety of channels. As far as bathrooms go it's quite average - toilet, tub shower, sink. The shower shampoo and soaps worked well - the shampoo smells like a sweet berry, and the conditioner was minty. The shower was strong and the water heated up quickly. Overall this has been the best hotel I've been to for a while. I'm not going to remember it for the room, or location, or price, but for the conversations I've had in the community lounge whenever I went down for breakfast, soup, or hot cocoa - someone's always downstairs, too. The lounge is designed to be friendly. More often than not, I'd end up in small talk with other guests that sometimes developed into lengthy conversations - it's...
Read moreFirst, and foremost - the staff is exceptional and genuine. I was greeted by Marjorie, whose level of personal detail and care is unparalleled. I arrived on the cusp of Oktoberfest, when the village square is lively and robust with tourism and celebrants. I stayed in 314 which is creek side, overlooking the international bridge, and from my balcony could watch the leaves come alive with fall color. There was a lovely fireplace, sitting area, roomy accommodations, thoughtful amenities. After dinner down the way, I stopped into Vail Wine Store - also elegantly appointed with premium choices including 25 year old MacCallan scotch and other liquors. Whipsmart staff. Snagged a lovely Brunello which I could have enjoyed in my room - there was a real set of wine glasses, a real wine corker, and all the thoughtful details that are frequently forgotten in chain lodging. Second - this is a family business and you actually feel like part of the family. Lovely access to parking area, great breakfast in sunny overlook to town square for people watching. Quaint. In the most special, affectionate, charming way possible. Kindness abounds and true hospitality. Finally, I fell asleep into the finest slumber after several days in other “upscale” accommodations. This was the most comfortable bed and snuggliest sheets. Finally - I came during a week where I expected disruption and revelers. I slept peacefully during a literal parade of partiers. Unmatched sleep experience. Thank...
