Overall, it was a good meal, but not without its challenges.
I recently tried Super Chix for the first time, and while the food was overall pretty good, the experience had both highlights and drawbacks.
I ordered the Crispy Avocado Salad and added grilled chicken for an additional $5, and I was pleasantly surprised. The grilled chicken was flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The salad dressing was delicious, and the deep-fried avocado with cheese in the pit area was unexpectedly amazing—it really worked! That said, the salad greens came in huge pieces—some as big as a quarter of my face—which made eating it a bit of a struggle, especially using plastic utensils to cut through the lettuce, chicken strips, and the deep-fried avocado.
I also tried the cheese fries with Cajun seasoning. The seasoning was okay, but nothing was particularly memorable. The fries themselves were good, but they could have used a bit more salt (which I could have done on my own). The biggest letdown was the cheese sauce—it had the texture of melted plastic, was thick and gummy, and didn’t offer much flavor. I ordered a regular size, which was enormous—definitely enough for two people or more. Unfortunately, it felt wasteful since I couldn't finish even half after eating my salad.
To top it off, I had a mint Oreo milkshake made with frozen custard, which was quite good. Creamy, flavorful, with big Oreo chunks on top—it was a win. However, like the fries, the portion size was massive. I would have appreciated a smaller option for both the shake and the fries to avoid waste.
I spent about $35–$40 for one person, which felt a bit steep considering the overall experience. While this isn't a fast food spot, it is food made fast (it took roughly 15-20 minutes to serve my meal), and it feels like they’re still fine-tuning things. For example, my daughter’s order had two out of four items made incorrectly, though the staff was very friendly, receptive, and quickly fixed the errors. I appreciated their positive attitude and the fact that they checked in with us after.
Final thoughts: Flavor-wise, most things were great, and the portions are generous—but perhaps too much so for one person. Due to the price point and hit-or-miss experience with quality and execution, I’ll probably only...
Read moreSuper Chix is a good fast food chain next to MOD pizza. They have deep fried and grilled chicken sandwiches. The Nashville "hot" is their regular sandwich with Nashville Hot, which is one of several sauces they offer. I did a side-by-side compression with a Chick-fil-A sandwich on Youtube.
Super Chix's plastic clamshell box has a more fancy presentation than Chick-Fil-A's cardboard box. The black plastic provides a visual contrast to The Nashville Hot sandwich. That combined with the sauce on the chicken makes the Super Chix Nashville hot look more tasty.
Both sandwiches were good. I'd say the bun, lettuce and tomato were equally quality. Chick-Fil-A uses a spicy breading on their spicy chicken sandwich. I assumed that Super Chix did the same. But I learned that the only thing that makes it hot is the sauce. Speaking of sauce, I like the Nashville sauce but prefer Chick-Fil-A's buffalo a bit more. Also, the sauce on top of the Super Chix looks better but in the eating, I find I like the sauce being on the side so I distribute it better. Of course, you can order the sauce on the side. Also you can help yourself to the Nashville and their other sauces. I wish I would have thought to Grab a few to try. I'm curious Super Chix's buffalo, Signature and Korean BBQ taste.
Super Chix wins on appearance. I'd say the sandwiches are very close but I give the edge to Chick-Fil-A for the spicy breading. Super Chix has an advantage of the variety of sauces. Chick-Fil-A wins on price ($7.99 vs $10.99).
The verdict?, this one's too close to call. Maybe after I try Super Chix's other sauces on the side I can give a...
