Kathy's Cakery and Treats — Restaurant in Vandalia

Hello! I’m just posting a review after few days of celebrating my baby’s first birthday. My baby’s bday was last Dec. 20th. So I ordered a bday cake, mini smash cake and cupcakes with ELMO theme. For a total of $81 for everything. That’s affordable i know!

So here’s my review. Price is excellent. Very affordable as i mentioned above.

Taste: its beyond excellent. So delicious it was good! There’s nothing i can say about the taste of the cake its really good! I would recommend.

Design of the cake: I would have to give it 4 stars because its really not what looked like in the picture but the cake artist, miss kathy explained it already that it would be similar its just that there will be a different topper on it bec she wont be able to do a 3D design. But its fine i still like it.

Customer service/communication: I was supposed to give an over all 3 stars but somehow she made me changed my mind in giving 3 stars.

Honestly, I was very particular and specific when it comes in having customized cake bec i wanted it to perfect bec u know its a one time celebration. Thats why I really have to ask and go in the details. And I felt sad bec she got rude at me when I asked for the 2nd time about the details of what the cake would look like. I understand that she was busy but she can tell it in a nice way. I was just asking and i think theres really no problem in asking and its not a big deal for me but then , it was a big deal for her that she got rude just bec i asked. You know what i mean. She said sorry but after that, i stopped asking. Lol bec i dont want to be treated that way again.

And also, i would suggest or recommend that if this is a full time business, i would suggest that this should have a delivery not just for wedding cakes but also for other cakes bec not all people have a car. My baby had a bday photoshoot last dec 9 and if was a weekday , my bf had to ride a bus and pick up first the smash cake before we go to the studio. It was a lil bit of a hassle especially we dont have a car but i have to understand that businesses have its own policies and rules right?

I was willing to pay extra for the delivery but it seemed like she got annoyed bec i was trying to have it delivered. Well i just tried. No problem. But there’s no need to be rude right? :)

Thats the reason why i was supposed to give 3 stars but then she made me change my mind to giving it 4 stars because, she had it delivered at the day of my baby’s bday. I didn’t asked, but she offered when i told that my bf is riding the bus to pick it up.

We dont have a car bec we just moved from up here from new orleans. Where everything is walking distance. So we are still in the process of adjustment and its kinda sad that she got rude in that moment but its fine i still like the cake! Its delicious!

Also, I asked about the details because i already had experience in New Orleans where in the cake was definitely beautiful it was for my baby’s baptism. It was exactly what’s in the picture so sorry if i have comparison. But the cake there in nola is expensive since its a city and everyday there’s an event so i paid for $275 for that but its worth it.

The cake also here is worth it and very affordable i would recommend!!!! Just pls recognize my suggestions and opinions!!! Thank you so much, I appreciate it!!!...

My husband and I used Kathy's Cakery and Treats for our wedding. We didn't want a large wedding cake, but preferred a smaller bridal party cake and a ton of cupcakes instead. We got a white cake with strawberry filling for our small cake. We had wedding white cake, chocolate cake, and a WONDERFUL raspberry cupcake with strawberry filling for our cupcake selection. Our guests LOVED the cupcakes and when I talk to people weeks later they are still raving (especially the raspberry cupcakes filled with strawberry, they were a hit!). The cake was decorated beautifully and we borrowed Kathy's rose gold cupcake stands to help display the cupcakes and it turned out wonderfully (See pics). If I ever have a big event again needing pastries, I will definitely contact Kathy. She is wonderful and affordably priced and I recommend her to anyone needing cakes or cupcakes for...

Kathy did such a wonderful job on the cake and cupcakes that I ordered for a baby shower. The cake was the talk of the party. Everyone was asking, "Where did you get the cake from?" The mother-to-be didn't even want to cut the cake because it was so pretty. Not only was the cake beautiful to look at, it was also delicious! The cake and cupcakes were delivered to the venue on time with no issues. This is not the first time that I've ordered a cake/cupcakes from Kathy. Each time, I've been so impressed by her consistency. The quality of her work is unmatched, and for that I'll always be a customer. Her skills are absolutely AMAZING!
