Went to Abby’s. Not my first visit at all but it was both my friends first time. One friend ordered the seafood puttanesca, the other soup and salad and I ordered a burger. I finished my water completely before the waiter brought out the soup but he didn’t notice, just left the soup and walked off. When the food comes, the seafood puttanesca sauce taste like thick salty pizza sauce. :( The burger was not good. The salad and soup were ok. The waiter asked how the food was. My friend said the seafood dish was horrible. He just said ok and immediately walked off. The waiter then remained missing most the time. We finally had to ask someone to go find him to get the bill. When he came back with it he asked if we wanted anything else and how the food was. I asked him if he was new, since I hadn’t seen him there before, he replied no. We told him the seafood dish was horrible and he told him that right after he brought it out. He said no he said it was fine. I said that was the second time you came with my water and he was just fed up after you walked off the first time and did nothing. He still never went to get a manager or anything. Just took the card rang it and hid at the bar area as we left. Definitely not the typical experience I’ve had at this restaurant for wait staff or for the food choices I’ve made prior. This visit was however extremely disappointing and my friends definitely have zero plans to return. I doubt after the service here and the food this time I will not be returning either. As we left a table outside had a nearly full dish of seafood puttanesca left...

Here is a review well deserved. I was looking for a good breakfast restaurant on the island of Venice and a co-worker suggested Abby’s. Arrived at 9:40 my waitress dropped the breakfast menu, took my drink order and came back with the coffee and asked what I’d like. I replied “I’ll have the 2 pancake breakfast with scrambled eggs and sausage.” Great, the food arrived in a reasonable time, was not bad, a little expensive at $12.99 for a 2 pancake breakfast, but that’s what I ordered and went with. Now the problem- I was presented with a $22 check. When I questioned the waitress she said “Breakfast ordered after 9:30 am is ordered ala carte sorry” the owner them came over and asked if there was a problem, I told him I ordered the 2 pancake breakfast breakfast and got the same answer: “it says it right on the menu” to be honest I only read the Eggs Benedict and the 2 pancake breakfast breakfast, didn’t read both sides of the menu or small print so I guess my fault. Granted I was given a breakfast menu at 9:40am, maybe the waitress could have told me? So my advice if you decide to to support a business with tactics like this: thoroughly read both sides of the menu, there will be a test in the form of the check at the end. And tho the meal was questionable at 12.99, definitely not a 22.99 meal. I’m sure the owner smiled knowing he got me for an extra $10 but I’ll never go back and hopefully this review helps...

Abby’s is a great location in Venice, just off of the main downtown street so that you are in easy walking distance of the shops, bakeries and other restaurants. We chose here because it seemed to have much more reasonable prices than nearby, while still having seafood.

The experience was a little odd, I’ll be honest. The service was spotty but it felt like our table had been singled out for it. The table behind us came after and was served everything much quicker and more enthusiastically. Did we smell funny? It was after a beach day….

Overall the food was probably slightly above average. I actually thought the popcorn shrimp were really great, though the appetizer only comes with 5 of them and I wanted more, haha. I got a salad for my main dish (yes I did do that), and it came with chicken, strawberries, goat cheese and this amazing tropical/ mango sauce that was also used for the popcorn shrimp. That sauce was literally one of the best that I’ve tried. It made my entire salad transformed and complimented the shrimp perfectly. Everyone in my group agreed that sauce was phenomenal and we used it on everything because it just tasted that much better. I wish I could know the secret to their tropical sauce because that will keep me up at night.

This is a good place if you’d like to sit outside with minimal noise and simple food. Don’t expect a stellar experience but it’s...

Abby's on Miami has an amazing atmospheric blend of casual and fine dining. The food is superb, all made from scratch in the restaurant. I reccomend the swordfish picatta, any fish or pastas on the very diverse menu. Add a lobster tail to your filet for a few bucks! Best deal in town. It's compared to the Crows Nest in Venice a lot and that would be because the owner was the head chef at Crow's Nest for over 20 years. The service is great, they have a great happy hour deal (house wine 4 dollars until 7, domestic drafts a little over 2 dollars!!), an early bird special on select menu items like their salmon special and chicken picatta (2 dollars off menu price of red dot items until 6!!) and their prices match the quality of the food without being overpriced. It's a family run restaurant, which is apparent from the moment I was greeted at the door. Kati, Sarah and Joanne are my favorite servers, so ask for Kati especially!!

High quality food and service in a modern environment. Beverages are quite good if you stay on the menu. I rather enjoyed my Moscow mule, but something was lost in translation in their preparation of a filthy martini, which really just came across as liquor with a queen olive. My preference includes vermouth and more olive brine, which seemed rather absent. Seafood and pasta looked great. I can attest that Abby's platter is quite tasty, but its value for the dollar is debatable. That can be said of many restaurants in the area, however. Regardless of value, we were will taken care of and quality was solid.
