Michael Waltrip Brewing Co. — Restaurant in Virginia

I am responding to the 2 Google reviews that were posted by Patricia OShaugnessy and Chris Willis. My Fiancé and I came in the restaurant when this party of over 30 people were there. We thought a private event was going on at the restaurant. Kids were running around and the party took up the entire front part of the restaurant. What we witnessed was entirely different from what these two people posted on here. The waiter waited on this entire party and did a great job for one person to take this on by himself. Everyone left except for an older man that stood at their table and an older woman that picked up the entire party’s bill and did not leave a tip. When the older gentleman realized that the woman did not leave a tip he walked up to the waiter and gave him some money. I am sure he was embarrassed with the woman’s behavior. The older woman came in after the man gave him a tip, apparently she witnessed what the older man did. She was not happy and said some words to the waiter that was not very nice and not appropriate to put on this review. My fiancé and I felt so bad about the entire event that we had witnessed that my fiancé gave the waiter a 100 dollar tip. Their waiter was also our waiter that night. And he did a great job for us. My advice for this lady that decided to pick up the bill for this party and make an excuse not to tip. If you can’t afford to eat out....

We were looking forward to eating here. Stood second in line for 10 minutes without any acknowledgement. Asked guy in front of me if he had checked in and he said no he was also waiting. Then, the lady behind us walks up and tells them that she wants to get on waitlist. I said, we were her first. The hostess looked at me and said, I’ll get to you in a minute. It’ll told her we were waiting in line to join the wait list and her response was, so. Then a male server jumped in and interjected himself into the conversation. I said I’ve been here 15 minutes and you are going to let this people jump line. He told me, well for you it’s probably going to be a lot longer. My response was, no I’m leaving and won’t be back. His response. See ya. Extremely poor management. The food looked good but obviously there was no management. Don’t be rude. Just solve the problem. Fortunately, the Burger Bar had a great cheese burger. May have been a blessing that the employees of this place were incompetent. Really hate to see one of my heroes, Michael Waltrip why his name...

I would like to preface the review by saying we had really great service from the bar manager today (5 stars for her!), even if we were the only ones in there LOL.

However, I believe the points that a lot of these negative reviews make are valid. A few of their beers are very drinkable and appropriate for the style. Surprised by the stout and the west coast ipa is palatable and would have had a another. The place is trying to be nice and I think they almost do it but in the wrong way, it feels sterile and cold and besides the people in there its a coffin, albeit seemingly nice coffin. Never really considered trying the food because the prices were absolutely ridiculous, RIDICULOUS. I couldnt imagine them producing any food justifying the prices. I wish them the best but will not return, there is better beer with better ambiance a short walk away. I will be interested to see if this place...
