I'm mainly giving 4/5 stars because at any given time, this place is absolutely mobbed and waiting 45-65 minutes for a table on most days is just a mood killer, especially with how large the space actually is. I have a feeling this is the typical modern restaurant owner conundrum where they don't pay employees enough, so they can only actually serve so many people and servers and cooks are limited, which is why the waiting area is so large - it almost seems as if they hired more people, they could have a ton more people who are seated eating/drinking instead of just waiting. Luckily, this is near a books a million so if you actually were okay waiting an hour to be seated, you can go buy a book while you wait! I think the main reason for this is that because I haven't had a bad thing here and when it's one of the only solid choice restaurants in this area, everyone will flock to it. When you can actually get in the place, the décor is pretty cool. The bar is set in the middle and is pretty impressive to look at. The wood everywhere is just gorgeous and of course it gives you that real tavern feel I haven't been into the back part of the building, but the seating is nice all around the bar and the outside seating on both ends is nice, with the front having fire pits... However I'm not sure if you can be served food outside since I've never seen anyone do anything besides drink and smoke out there which is another reason I wouldn't give a 5 star, because there's nothing worse than chilling outside with friends or family and having to breathe in a table full of smoke right next to you. The appetizers are great, but true standout is the goat cheese dip. What an incredible flavor with the marinara sauce and shaved almonds on top. Pitas instead of chips for this really put it over the top in a fantastic way. Any one of their burgers is a solid choice, but the Park Lane burger is a great default for flavors and the burger is *gigantic!* The fries leave a bit to be desired, but if you focus on the burger, there isn't much room for fries, anyway. The fish and chips is also a pretty fantastic choice, but my feedback for the fries rings true as well here. However this is in one of my top fish fries for the fish alone, and once again, it's also massive! I think it's because of the type of fish they use, and it's a banger (not to be confused with bangers and mash!) because of it. Another good option is the shepherd's pie. it's a really good flavor, but I'm not really sure it has enough breadcrumbs on top to give a complimentary texture there. It is meaty and savory and if you're looking for a bit of a comfort food, this is a great pick. As for our servers on any given occasion - they've all been fantastic. Attentive, friendly, and willing to give recommendations on both food and drinks. This will always be a solid choice if you want something savory with a "European Comfort" focus, just be prepared to wait for it!

I went on a trip to Washington DC over the summer, and I stopped in Fredericksburg to visit some family. One evening, we went to a local tavern to take in some food and some brews. We got here just in time; they had an exquisite happy hour menu with lots of tasty sounding items at a tasty sounding price. We got one of the premium, round booths in the corner of the building, and got a great view of the whole place. This is one of those places that has a mug club and displays all their mugs all over the bar. It's a really cool display, actually. So anyway, we got seated, got our delightful server, and got to ordering some stuff. Let me tell you what we got. Bang'n Calamari (Hand breaded slices of calamari steak tossed in a kickin' sauce). Mini Tavern Chips (House made potato chips topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, scallions & BBQ sauce). Banger in a Blanket (Beer battered fennel & pork sausage served with sauerkraut & mustard). Now, I never mention price in my reviews, but each of those items were $6. What a surprising value! And all of the items were very good tavern fare. In addition to the $6 ones, there was a $10 one that was equally valuable, the Guinness Glazed Ribs (4 Flash fried ribs, tossed in our homemade Guinness glaze sauce atop a bed of french fries). These ribs are giant! As crispy as Asian ribs, and with a dark, umami glaze that will make you regret offering to share them with your tablemates. We were here for a while, so we eventually needed more food, so, of course I got the Boddingtons Fish & Chips (English ale battered and fried to order whole Atlantic Haddock filet on a bed of fresh tavern fries. Served with house-made tartar sauce). Loved the look of this. Like it came right off the streets of London. So good. Also got to sample the Tavern Wings (Fresh jumbo chicken wings, fried crispy and tossed in one of our signature sauces). I forgot the sauce we chose, but I remember being very happy with these crispy wings. Top notch. After all the food and drinks had settled in, we decided that before we leave, we needed dessert. Specifically, the Jameson Irish Whiskey Bread Pudding (Our own house made recipe topped with Irish whiskey sauce and paired with vanilla bean ice cream). High quality. From the whiskey in the sauce to the softness of the bread to the vanilla bean specks in the ice cream. Every bit of this was great. Wow, seems like I wrote a dissertation. This place won't win any Michelin Stars, but for what we wanted out of it, we got every bit of what we wanted. So fun, so delicious, thanks Park Lane Tavern!

We had an extended Birthday Dinner for my wife. I'm glad we picked "Park Lane Tavern". We had a party of 7 down 👇 on the books. We had a 45 min wait due to Their 10 Top table had a 5 top Occupancy. So some of us went to the bar to wait it out. The bartenders Brian and Joey's drinks were delicious and they had Great Personality too giving advice on what they like to eat. Moving on to the food, our 45 min wait turned well over an hour due to that 5 top I mentioned earlier. They were uncourteous, unmindful and disrespectful with restaurant etiquette. They finished dinner, drinks, dessert PAID their cheque and sat and chatted for an additional 30 minutes. Which is a No No in a restaurant waiting to turn tables. I know a bit about FOH and BOH Managing. Especially on a Sunday Dinner Rush! We summoned the Hostess about the less than cooperative 5 top. She told us she couldn't do anything but in the Food/Beverage Industry you certainly could do something. In my FOH MANAGEMENT years, after their server asked is there anything else I can get for the Table? The party has cashed out, I would have clocked them to 7-10 minutes 15 at the most. Then I would have politely gone over to the party and asked, "Hello folks, How was everything? Everything was Wonderful? Great to hear that your server took great care of you. If you would like to hang out with us, could I direct you over to the bar, because this is my largest table, I do have a 7 Top that has been patiently waiting well over the 45min quote they were given. Okay you elect to leave? Alright well come back to the Tavern Anytime we enjoy having you here. This is just 1 scenario that could have played out. Thanks 🙏👍. Even though we are planning to come back to Park Lane Tavern the Food was Amazing The Corned Beef was just delicious, the burgers were very flavorful and the drinks were Tasty! I am telling you guys Go to Park Lane Tavern you will not be disappointed! Big Food Big Flavor! Our waitress was Amazing very engaged and helpful even with helping some with what to order. Can't wait to go Back. Park Lane Tavern is a well oiled machine!

First of all, I love this place. I come here everytime I drive down from Maryland to visit family and friends. The food NEVER disappoints. The drinks always hit and the service is always 5 stars. Except today, the service was very lack luster. We were served by George H. No hello how are you, no welcome, nothing. Just what can I get you, didn't even let us sit down and get settled with our son, I was standing up ordering. Asked about the beers and he said they are on the menu, well, if you give me a few minutes I can look before you bombard me with what do you want. We didn't order a meal right away, just food for our son, two beers and an appetizer to start. He didn't seem pleased that we were not ordering food. He had zero personality, zero smile, just an unhappy face and a pushy attitude. He he came around twice to see if we wanted food and when we said not yet he seemed annoyed. We did order food, and it was outstanding as usual. He did come and check on us which was good but honestly he just wasn't pleasant and he dropped the bill. Once my husband paid the bill and signed the receipt, he immediately came over snatched it off the table and walked away looking at the tip. No thank you for coming, appreciate your service, nothing. I was a bartender for several years after the military and during college, I know good service and this was not it. We still however left him 20% because that's the minimum. But had he been a great server and treated us with a smile and some manners, we would have given 50% as we to all great servers and bartenders. Oh, we also cleaned up the floor and the high chair where our son sat bc that's what you do. I wish him all the best but Sir, you suck as a server, find a non customer service job, in a warehouse, at night. To everyone else, I love this place. I will be back. If I see him, I'll ask for another server. ❤️

Where do I begin? Not since Hemingway’s Restaurant in Orlando have I been so truly surprised and wowed. First, this place is a classic European style Pub, great look and feel, and it’s very warm and welcoming. Before I get too far along with the praise of the place and the food let me give props to the staff that made my visit amazing in the first place. Ashton, our server was very accommodating after we switched tables like a thousand times before we found the perfect spot. She was on point and gave great advise about the menu, professional and just all around awesome, if you stop by you have to ask for her. No great place is that way without a good leader, and Park Lane is no exception to that rule, Enter the General Manager Tony. This guy knows what he is doing, it’s all about the details and you better believe that he pays attention to them and it shows. Onto the food, ok mind was completely blown a few times but the true cherry on top was the corn beef and cabbage burger!!! Yeah you read that right. On so many levels I was not sure that something like that could work, but work it did. The Maryland crab soup was also a good intro to the monstrously delicious burger but the finisher was enough to make you truly a fan of this unassuming spot, bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. I cannot remember when I was so excited to write a review for a place or when I enjoyed the classics so much. I recommend checking this place out, bring friends and or family. Great happy hour and call to see what specials are going on throughout the week. You will not be disappointed. Good people, good location, great beers, and awesome food. On a side note: kitchen team you did your thing!!! Thanks Chef

This has been our go to for years. The goat cheese dip with pita bread is still delicious, we didn’t even mind they changed out the pine nuts for almonds now. BUT the chicken apple brie sandwich used to be amazing and isn’t anymore. I couldn’t wait to go yesterday but I was VERY disappointed in the quality of the chicken Apple Brie. When our Sandwhiches were served… they were cold. The bread had absolutely no color and it was apparent something had changed. When our server checked in on how our meals were I let her know the sandwich was cold. She made a comment that it’s not really supposed to be a warm sandwich. HOWEVER, it is supposed to be because I’ve been ordering this for years. The chicken was cold, the cheese was cold, and the bread was lifeless. She offered to take them back and have them warmed. I could see the manager and her kind of smirking at our table for this in the corner. The manager brought back out our Sandwhiches and they still looked so pale and unappetizing. I asked him what’s changed… because this is not the quality we are used to. He then said oh, I mean corporate did change the bread from baguettes to hoagie rolls. I am so sad to say that my most favorite sandwich is something I will never return for. My recommendation is to have “corporate” update the menus because it still says French baguette. Which is not what was served. It was doughy. Also make a little bit more of an effort especially for locals who have been supporting and choosing your business for a long time. There’s a lot of competition in Fredericksburg… this made me regret not waiting 40 minutes for a table at Rebellion.
