I am so happy we decided to eat here! We live between Pendleton & Walla Walla and had a craving for sushi and after comparing reviews for this place and the one in Pendleton we felt our odds of a good enjoyable meal was with Shiki Hibachi and we where so very right!
The portions are large, fresh and affordable!
The selection of saki is impressive!
The sushi was amazing as well as the Udon noodles and the miso soup was perfect!
The atmosphere is calm & relaxing and our waitress was incredibly attentive as well as what I assume was one of the owners.
Also a steady stream of people were coming and going for the entire hour my husband and I spent there which also tells me they have very fresh food just based on sheer turn around.
Also our meals came quickly but no so quickly that you worry about it being an instant type microwave deal or some huge pot that's been setting all day waiting to be served from.
My only three constructive criticism I'd like to offer with the kindest intent are:
I wish the lettuce served in the starter salad was not iceberg as it has just so little nutrition, flavor and is so watery when chewed it really diluted the amazing flavor of the ginger dressing.
I wish there where more hot tea option than green tea, I would have loved to have a good oolong or rooibos tea with my meal especially if served somewhat traditionally.
It was a little off putting to listen to literal disco music with dinner, I feel like something calming even traditional would really add to the calm inviting atmosphere you have clearly worked so hard to create.
Thanks for a great meal and we will be...
Read moreOur experience was absolutely terrible. We are NEVER coming back to this sorry excuse of a restaurant. We ordered five meals, and they charged us for five meals on the day of my best friend’s graduation. However, we drove away, only to discover four meals, complete with only four sets of chopsticks. We tried to call the restaurant back for 30 minutes, and each time, the phone line was busy, and the inbox was full. After trying at least ten times to contact them, on two separate phones, they finally answered and were extremely uncooperative. We asked about the order, and the desk lady tried to tell us that it was included with another order, in a single to-go container(“to save containers” she said). And yet, each other meal was in its own separate container(and when we looked in the so called two-meal container it was not there), and she tried to blame us for not specifically requesting individual containers for each meal. Finally, when we asked about a solution, she blew us off, and hung up the phone without fixing the situation, or offering an alternative. We didn’t get our money back, we didn’t get our final order, and we left with the promise that we are NEVER coming back. At least we finally got our food in the form of a happy meal at McDonalds. You guys are lucky I can’t give you negative stars. This was a horrible experience, and before leaving the restaurant, make sure to verify your food is “in separate containers”. Well, you know what, don’t even bother going there to deal with the terrible...
Read moreOut of the three Japanese places in Walla Walla, this one has the most diverse menu. That said they are a small franchise around the area.
We stopped in for pho (yes they have pho and it’s not bad at all) but decided to get their sushi and sashimi platter for two.
Pho: pretty good, though if you’re used to pho from LA or something, it’ll hold you over but won’t set records. Lol
Sushi/shashimi: presentation was good. Chefs speak Mandarin, so if you do, that’s a plus. Haha salmon and yellowtail were good. They also have Escolar aka Superwhite or white tuna. I found it a little frozen/stuff and not as wonderful and buttery as it can be. Still good none the less.
Pro tip: order the spicy edamame and KEEP THE SAUCE. Try dipping your sushi/sashimi in the sauce. SO GOOD.
Chefs special roll (part of the platter combo) was good.
Overall for two people the combo was just right. My gf felt overly full...
